Do you use a fanny pack?

Proud Fannie Pack wearer here. In fact, my husband and children wear them as well. They are so convenient. Even my 5 year old can carry his own small water bottle and snacks in it. He thinks its great!

I heard a line once on the Dis boards that is worth repeating........Disney World is the only socially acceptable place to wear a fanny pack. LOL

Not me. I wear mine when I am going grocery shopping or doing laundry (outside my home). Or with my child in the park. I can't imagine wearing a purse or backpack while doing these activities.

I've been using a disney fanny pack for as long as I could remember. I love the hands -free feature. However, this year i ordered a really cute Mickey cross-body bag from Avon. Its just the right size and it still leaves you hands- free. It was only 16.99 . check it out on the Avon website. ;)

My then 15 year old daughter made fun of me a few years ago when I bought a fanny pack for the first time to wear at WDW. A few weeks later we were watching a "don't let this happen to you" fashion show. Well, low and behold, there was the fanny pack. And the hostesses' statement was that they are totally unacceptable EXCEPT at a Theme Park where they are an absolute neccessatity! Even wore one when I went a few months ago and carried a backpack in the stroller. My most often needed items were always right in front of me -tickets, photopass cards, camera, ADR numbers, waterbottle, lipstick, and more - and so easy to get to. Disneyworld and other theme parks are the only place I will ever wear one but I will always have one on at these places.

I'm curious...I wear my fanny pack around my waist in the front, that way I feel safe with my wallet, camera etc. Is this how most people wear them? How do you wear yours?

Personally, I don't currently use a fanny pack. Did it once at WDW, when my son was about 7 years old & I still felt like I needed to carry numerous items such as first aid supplies and the like into the park (for skinned knees, etc.). I hated the photos from that year--felt like I looked too dorky & dumpy with that thing strapped around my waist.

Now days I either use a 'wallet on a string', a 'cell phone' case attached to my belt (I don't even own a cell phone, LOL!), or just a lanyard with a zip-lock carrying case on the end. All I really need to take into the parks is my ticket, ID, CC, and a bit of pocket cash... so no reason to schlep along a larger purse or fanny pack. If we end up actually needing a bag in the parks, for purchases we decide to carry with us or such, I can just pick up one of the nice Disney reusable totes for a few dollars. Love the green "Every Tree Has Character" bag that I bought this past December. And we don't need to wait in the lines at bag check when entering the parks this way either, which can be a big plus at times.

Should also add that my DH carries our 'pocket sized' camera in a case on his belt... our ADR #s are on a small slip of paper stuck in a wallet... and if/when we carry a mug or water bottle along with us, we then use a carbiner to attach the empty mug to a belt buckle for hands free touring.

I usually wear mine in the front, hidden under my tee :rotfl:, I dont like the way it cinches my shirts on the outside and accentuates bulges...yucky :scared1: !!!

I use one. I tried last year to go without it and made it 1 day. We still carried a drawstring back pack tho - for gatorade bottles, poncho's and mini fan's. We each took turns carrying the back pack. When we go in May I will probably do the same - fanny pack for tickets, money, camera, id's. Back pack for water and the like.

Who cares if it looks dorky - not there for a fashion show kwim?

Fanny pack user here!:wave2:

I don't care if I look like a total geek, I would neer use a backpack or any other kind of bag at Disney World.Wear whatever bag feels comfortable to you, and don't worry about what anyone else thinks.:)

I bought a Disney fanny pack specifically reserved for....trips to Disney!!! Have to admit I don't wear it anywhere else, but could care less what I look like at Disney. DH loves the drawstring backpacks.

This is the way I wear mine. And I'm fairly skinny so even with the strap tightened as far as it will go, it rides my hips, no worries about wrinkling my shirt...

Love the fanny pack! Or bum-bag as my DH calls it. With 3 kids, diapers, wipes, extra clothes, snacks and who-knows-what-else we collect throughout the day, a backpack feels like a boulder. I throw the kids' stuff under the stroller and off we go!

Yup! Easy access to park tix and camera, feels "safer" and I don't need anything drawing added attention the back side of me. ;)

Love my fanny pack. It holds exactly what I need it to, I can get to it quickly/easily and I am "hands free" for our entire trip. If we're going in a nicer restaurant and I don't want to feel too dorky, I just take it off my waist, clip the strap, and sling it over my shoulder. :thumbsup2

I only wear one at Disney! With 2 kids I need my hands free and also I don't have to worry about hitting them in the head with a bag!

YAY About to prance around Disney with my dear fiancé, DF, next month! I agree with you fanny pack peeps that they're great to trek around in. One day I tried on a pink Kipling Presto Deluxe Waistpack in the Kipling store. Although I thought it seemed a little funky wearing something deemed a fashion no-go past the 1980's, the three other girls who were also browsing in the store saw me wearing it and instantly asked the shop girls if they had any more in stock!

Utility before fashion, but both would be lovely too!

:dumbo:me:goofy:DF

I actually saw a COACH "waist bag" at the Coach outlet today! (Check the men's section.)

I bought a generic one for our last trip but before we left I got a new Disney fanny pack. I can't wait to put it to good use. I like it because it is hand free packing and it does not hurt my shoulders or back.:lmao:

I use a fannypack at WDW a lot. Considering what I have seen people wearing at WDW, I don't see what the big deal is with people not wanting to wear one. It is very handy and you don't have to hunt for what you want like you do with a back pack. Just my 2 cents.

My DH always uses a fanny pack, and I'll throw my ID and CC in it.

Since our DD was almost 4, last fall I took a small backpack instead of a diaper bag. I packed a change of clothes, snacks, wipes, tylenol and some cash. I also threw in her medical records, since she is prone to seizures.

Well wouldn't ya know, it was stolen out of our stroller when we went on a ride. :sad1:

So for those who prefer a backpack, hold on to it!

This year, I'll be wearing a fanny pack.

Does anyone use a fanny pack that has a water bottle?
I'm wondering if it would get in the way or not. We will be there in July and we are Not used to the heat.
