Personally, I don't currently use a fanny pack. Did it once at WDW, when my son was about 7 years old & I still felt like I needed to carry numerous items such as first aid supplies and the like into the park (for skinned knees, etc.). I hated the photos from that year--felt like I looked too dorky & dumpy with that thing strapped around my waist.
Now days I either use a 'wallet on a string', a 'cell phone' case attached to my belt (I don't even own a cell phone, LOL!), or just a lanyard with a zip-lock carrying case on the end. All I really need to take into the parks is my ticket, ID, CC, and a bit of pocket cash... so no reason to schlep along a larger purse or fanny pack. If we end up actually needing a bag in the parks, for purchases we decide to carry with us or such, I can just pick up one of the nice Disney reusable totes for a few dollars. Love the green "Every Tree Has Character" bag that I bought this past December. And we don't need to wait in the lines at bag check when entering the parks this way either, which can be a big plus at times.
Should also add that my DH carries our 'pocket sized' camera in a case on his belt... our ADR #s are on a small slip of paper stuck in a wallet... and if/when we carry a mug or water bottle along with us, we then use a carbiner to attach the empty mug to a belt buckle for hands free touring.
