I am having a party for my son at Monster Mini Golf on Thursday. I've always had the parties at home. I noticed at other parties we have gone to that there is usually someone who helps you and kind of guides the kids.

Do you tip this person and, if so, how much?

Thanks - Lori

I tipped the person at Chuck E Cheese. She brought out food, drinks, led the kids in singing H/B, volunteered to take photos, using my camera, and helped move all the gifts to a different table when our time slot was up. I gave her $20. I have no idea what amount is appropriate, because it's different than a server at a restaurant.

We always have parties out - I usually tip $20 per person, more if they've gone over and above.

I used to run Bday parties at a children's museum. We got tips about 50% of the time. Very appreciated!

I used to work at McD's as a teen and on weekends I was the birthday party hostess. I had to schedule the parties, make up the goodie bags & hats, order the cake, set-up the party area, take the food orders, fulfill the food orders, keep up with everything ordered, entertain the kids (like climbing through tunnels or letting them chase me down slides), then clean up & set-up for the next one. I was thrilled when I got a $5-10 tip.

We tipped our host at my DD's Chuck E. Cheese party. He was super helpful, friendly, actually acted like he cared about being there for my daughters party. So I felt he deserved a tip. We gave him around $20 I think. I have been to a few Chuck E. parties and some of those host's they assign to do these kids parties are terrible. :scared1:

My DD's party was at Pump it Up (a moonbounce place) and when I paid for it with my credit card, there was a space for tip included. I was already planning to tip for excellent service, but it seemed to be expected.

When my DD was younger, I usually gave $10, but nowadays I would probably give $20.

We've had two bday parties out and we tipped $20 each time. It's pretty common around here I believe. The first time I had no clue!

a friend had her ds's party at go bananas, the package was $600 (food, rides, etc), and she left a $25 tip, the manager called her over and asked if there was a problem with the server since she left so little. she asked what was the usual amount and she was told 10% ($60!)

That's crazy!!

I'm a party hostess at a bowling alley and often receive tips for helping parties. I take their order, assist them on the lanes, deliver their food and help in any other way they need me.

Some offer just a few dollars, some 15%, others more and there are those who don't tip at all, and that's okay. Tips are appreciated, but I don't count on receiving anything.

That's totally outrageous - I wouldn't spend that on my kid's parties - in total for their entire lifetime!

We have had 2 mini golf parties & tipped $20 - the teen stayed with the group the whole time, kept them in line, offered them mini golf tips, got our food & drink, cleaned up, etc. He probably deserved more but the whole party bill was only $85, so I felt $20 was more than appropriate.

This is going back to the mid-80's, but I used to be a birthday party hostess at McD's. Most people didn't tip, but some would tip me $5 or $10. I was thrilled when that happened, as setting up the parties was quite a bit of work.

i work at a gymnastics and rock climbing gym. our parties cost on average $245-345 for 20-30 kids with 2-3 instructors for one hour of play. most parties tip $10-25 per instructor, and i have seen $50 tips (per instructor) quite a few times. i work there and i agree that is expensive for a 3 or 4 year old's party, especially since they probably won't even remember it in a few years.

we have done gymnastics parties, and I tipped $20 per helper...........we did Chuck E Cheese , but I don't recall how much I tipped, I know i did, I just don't remember exactly how much.

Yes, usually they're young kids so I tip them 10 bucks each.

Funny.....I always tip if we hold DD's party away from home. Except for when we rented the boat from Disney. We could only have 12 ppl total, we knew this ahead of time so it was ok. We waited about 30 mins to get on the boat to see that the cake looked like it was for my 73 y/o dad...not a 5 y/o little girl. Then when we got to the spot to see the fireworks from the MK(which we could not see b/c of wind not Disney) the 2 girls operating the boat could not operate it, DH had to help them and put the prop back in the water!:confused3 We paid the almot $300 for the boat ride (which was about 1 hour)and cake but did not leave a tip. I would NEVER sugest a B-day cruise from Disney again!!

I tip the same as I would a server. They do more work IMO, and I always tell them keep me happy, keep my kids happy and I'll make them happy. They usually get between $20-$30 dollars.
