Do you tip Sears Delivery people when you get an appliance delivered?

I never know whether to or not. They charge $60 for delivery (remember when it used to be $40? ;)), and I never know if this means I don't tip them or I should or how much or what?

Do you know what I mean?

DH and I decided to order a second fridge for our basement, primarily because we're hosting Thanksgiving dinner again this year, and last year we ran out of room in the fridge and didn't want to deal with that again. (No one ever said we were thrifty. :)) I was so hoping they would come when DH was home so he could deal with it ;), but alas, they did not, and I felt dumb not knowing what to do so erred on the side of caution.

Do you? Don't you? Any feedback is appreciated! And Happy Thanksgiving.

We had planned on tipping, but the two guys who delivered our new refrigerator a year or so ago were extremely incompetent. One even went so far as to break the connecting piece to hook up the ice maker after he said "oh, yeah" I know how to do it. After they left DH called Sears to talk to the manager and let him know about the experience, and he never complains!! It was that bad.

no we didn't. Too much worng with our stuff (3 things ordered)

Nope. We had thought about it. But after they not only gouged a couple spots into our wall while bringing our fridge in, left said fridge out in the pouring rain instead of at least moving it underneath our entry area, then breaking a retaining piece of the freezer bin---we decided otherwise.

Honestly, the only reason why I bought from there was because I wanted that particular fridge. If anyone else made the exact type/style that Kenmore makes, I would've gone with it instead, but nothing else had all the features I was looking for, and I wasn't willing to compromise much considering how much I was already spending.

With a $60 delivery fee??? No way.
I just had an entire living room (sofa, love seat, coffee table, end tables and entertainment amoire deliverd a few weeks ago (yay me...I love new stuff). Delivery was free of charge becasue I only lived 2 miles from the store. I tipped the guys $25 each becasue they set everything up and hauled away the trash. But if I had been charged for delivery service, no way.

I believe my family would normally tip on top of the delivery charge as long as everything was satisfactory with the delivery (and the people delivering were polite!).

Yes, usually 20.00. It's hard work and I appreciate it a lot. Now if they broke something that might be different.

Sears - no, I only tip Best Buy delivery people. Couldn't resist.:dancer:

Never ordered from Sears, but never tipped for any kind of delivery (UPS, furniture, appliances, etc).

My wife's nephew managers a Lowes. His crews are not supposed to take tips. He says they might get offered a tip once a week.
His position is, given what these guys are paid, they shouldn't need a tip.

I tell 'em I don't have any cash on me right now, check back in ten years.
