Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend 2026

Following along as i've given my daughter the option to run the DL half, princess , or springtime surprise and we've never been out for DL runs. I hope she picks it and that we're able to secure a spot next week!

I'm hoping to register for the DL race weekend, which will be my first race weekend on the west coast. We usually stay off property, since so many hotels are close within walking distance. Do people do this for race weekends? Do the off-property hotels have race transportation? I'm not sure I want to be walking to the parks at three in the morning if they don't. Do most runners just stay onsite? Appreciate any feedback.
For the 2024 half marathon weekend, I stayed at the park vue inn. Right across the street from the Disneyland entrance and for the races it was only a block away from one of the back entrances. The plus to that was our security line was way shorter than the main one. It seemed to me that a lot of people stayed off property. It was very nice to walk to the start. No stressing about buses like Disneyworld.

I've recently gotten into running and am excited to get started with RunDisney events! I'm on the West Coast so the Disneyland events make a lot of sense to start with, so I'm a little bummed that they'll be on hiatus for a while. I have a work event in San Francisco on the 31st and 1st, so I'll only be able to do the 5k on the 30th. Was almost going to skip this one because I won't be able to be there for long, but the hiatus solidified that I definitely want to try to get in, since we don't know when they'll return. Excited and nervous for registration next week!

I hope you get it! I love the DL 5k course. Starting by the castle/on Main Street is awesome.

I got the go ahead from DW to try and get into Dumbo Dbl Dare. So it looks like I'll be among the masses praying to the internet gods on Tuesday.

DH and I registered with Team DetermiNation for the Dumdo Dbl Dare! We are so excited! We are trying for the coast to coast this year. This will be our 3rd time running with Team DetermiNation at Disney. I am a 2 time cancer survivor so running for ACS means a lot to both of us! Contemplating registering for the 5k.

We have DVC and I looked and it may be hard to get rooms at the Villas at DLH or GC. We will waitlist though.

I was debating trying to sign up for the DL Half when I saw the IASW theme, and then like most everyone else, my decision was met when I learned it'd be the last chance for Coast to Coast for awhile. I foolishly missed the Castle to Chateau Challenge years ago when I ran the Disneyland Paris Half, and I don't want a repeat of that FOMO. :rotfl:
My youngest will turn 10 this fall, and I promised my kids I would try and get them into a 10K when everyone was old enough. When I asked my son if he'd rather go to WDW or DL he immediately said DL.
So I suppose I'll be joining the masses on Tuesday trying to book the Dumbo Double Dare and 3 additional 10Ks. Whoa boy.

I've only ever registered for Springtime Surprise and DLP Halfs and wayyyy back in the day, the EE Challenges (where I registered a whole 5 weeks beforehand. Unheard of now!) I'm a tiny bit nervous to see the chaos that is a typical race registration day. May our internet be strong and our links be lucky!

They don’t have official Disney transportation but for one race we stayed at the Sheraton Park hotel and they had ART transportation running early and they picked us up at the hotel ( they run on a schedule for all of the nearby hotels) and dropped us off at Disneyland ( not race start area) . That was nice. That was before COVID, not sure they are still running bit would look into that.

That's true, I had forgotten that! For the 2024 HM weekend I rode special early morning ART buses to and from the 5K. (The other races were very near my hotel.)

Does the fundraising amount include the race registration fee?
You do not have to pay a registration fee. All you have to do is fundraise. There is a midway point where you have to hit your 1/2 way fundraising goal. I typically kick start my fundraising by donating my race fee to the goal.

Dang you know registration is going to be crazy if the charities are filling up before gen reg is even open. Like smart choice don't get me wrong but still dang.

That's what my friend decided to do. She originally only signed up with a charity for the 5k but after the hiatus announcement, she didn't want to take any risks.

I would keep your eye out though for charity bibs if you don't get into regular registration. Sometimes people claim a charity bib, then do regular registration and drop their charity.

I was surprised that the Team Determination closed registration so fast! For marathon weekend it stayed open for a few days.

This will be my first DL run, do they have a smaller number of runners for these races?

I received the email from team determination before they opened bibs up and they had said they were only gonna have it open for 24 hours or until the bibs were gone which ever came first. They said that this was for people who for sure knew they wanted to run for their charity. I did hear last night that Hope Story was down to like 6 challenge bibs. I don’t think they said anything about the other distances.

I believe they are, but someone more experienced with them (I've only done this year's Disneyland half weekend) correct me if I'm wrong. There were 10,513 finishers for this year's DL half. For this year's Princess half, there were 15,878.

Not as many people love the half routes for Disneyland, due to all the road time. After the first few miles, you're running the streets around Anaheim so there aren't any character stops, etc. I personally still really enjoyed myself as it allowed me plenty of space to run and get into a rhythm, but definitely understand why someone wouldn't want to pay runDisney prices for essentially a normal road race.

Right, I got that email as well. I just couldn't remember the 24 hr mark.

I do know they want people to commit and I would never dream about dropping my charity, but I just put it out there that there are sometimes bibs that open up through charities after registration.
