Say your order a sub or whatever to be delivered and the delivery boy forgets to bring the soda (you've already paid for it via credit card). When he comes back with it, do you tip again, or not?

sorry I dont pay for someone elses mistake. He had the order he should have gotten it right.

Were you taught to tip for bad service???

there are so many variables to tipping.
is the food hot (if it is cold it may or may not be the fault of delivery)
how fast did it get there (also unsure of the reason)

but of the guy does not pack the orders, if they just hand him a bag or box with a name and address and amount...? and if he/she gets the missing item back to me in time to enjoy with the meal.... Hmmmmmmm....

Mikeeee

If he forgot the soda the first time I wouldn't have him come back with it and whatever I was going to tip him, I'd deduct the amount I already paid for the soda.

why would you tip the second time...?? That's would just be stupid.

You tip for good service. If he forgot the drink then he performed bad service. I'm not sure a tip the first time should be expected, and definately not the second time.

I guess for me it would depend on how complicated the order is...if it was just for myself I usully order something simple so no i probably wouldnt tip again, but if i were at work and making an order for 10-15 people (usually if its a group order thats how many order) then there tends to be alot of confusion so I may give full tip when the delivery person comes back with the forgotten/corrected items.

I guess it also depends on the delivery persons attitude, if they seem geniunly apologetic then yeah i will tip them, if they seem like i am causing THEM an inconveniece because THEY forgot/messed up then no i will not. Alot of times they dont prepare the items to go out they are just handed the bags/boxes and they go....

I didn't tip today because I went to pay for an $11 order with a $20 and the delivery guy told me he didn't have any change but if I gave him the $20, he'd come back with my change. I went to my room, scrounged up 2 5's and one one and paid him...told him that was all I had other than $20's. I had one more $1 bill but I felt like it was his problem that he hadn't brought any change with him.

The complication, I think, comes in if the first delivery person is not the person who delivers the missing items. Do you expect the first delivery person to tip-out the second delivery person? Or do you basically let the second delivery person take the hit?

I'm a big tipper; I tip when most do not but I would not tip in this case. If it was a different person, I'd expect them to know the circumstance and not expect a tip. Sorry if you're the 'cleanup' guy, your buddy owes you a percentage of his tips!
