So after my dh didn't get the job last week,he got a call that night for a phone interview. The next morning the recruiter called again and asked if he could come in for a face to face interview on friday. (last friday) (oh btw this was for a different job not the one he lost out on last week)

The job was for a systems admin for a contracting co. very similar to the last one, medical benefits but again low pay but we took all of your advice and decided to go for it anyway. The weird thing was it was working for a contracting house but they had a contract with Lucent which is where he used to work! so he would be back in the same exact building!!

He said he thought the interview went great. He answered all of their technical questions and even answered one that they said was a real prob last week and had their people stumbed for a few days. He also knew one of the higher ups there also.

anyway, the recruiter called sun night asking how it went and she was talking to him like he already had the job. She said ok I'll call you Mon morning. Dh says ok call me either way. she says "oh I will I know I hate waiting around for people."

So as you can guess NO CALL all day MOnday!

Then today around noon he finally calls her so we can get on with our lives. Here is the phone conversation I thought this was RUDE!

Oh Hi I was just gonna call you. I have good news and bad news.

DH ok (Hes thinking he got the job but the pay is low (she said she might be able to get a little more for him)

Her The good news is THE SUN IS OUT TODAY! and the bad news is you didn't get the job.

Gee thanks for the good news!!!

I know she probably has to deliver BAD news a lot but I thought that was rude! If you've read this LONG post what do you think?
Sorry so long!!!

:sad2: Kinda makes you wonder how some people can rise to the level of their incompetence.

If she has to deliver bad news a lot, maybe she better find a more tactful way of doing it.

On another note, you husband was probably OVER qualified for the job. Keep your chin up, I believe everything happens for a reason and good things WILL come your way!

:scared1: :earseek: :crazy2:

That is just too rude! It's one thing to give bad news, but giving good news that the sun is out???? Did she think she was funny?

That was rude and unprofessional! I wish your husband all the luck in finding a job!

That is terrible. Yes, I agree she was very rude.

::yes:: a word for her, other than rude, comes to mind but I'll be nice & stick with "rude"

as a former recruiter I am horrified. That is exceptionally rude! I can't even imagine saying that to someone who interviewed and was hoping for a job. I would also be looking for a different recruiter, assuming there are several in his field.

It also reminds me of one of my favorite shows, The Office, on BBC America but also being made as an american version. The boss gathers his crew and says, I have good news and bad news. The bad news is some of you will be layed off, the good news is I'm staying on. (seeing their faces) ahh, you're still thinking about the bad news, aren't you?

mtemm, IT did remind us of that commercial where the guy says

"Good news, I saved a bundle on my car insurance !"

That's what I was thinking, that commercial. Did she think she was being funny? It was rude.

So unprofessional and a little on the cruel side, if you ask me.

Lori P. :)

Unacceptable unprofessional conduct. Find out how and to whom she should be reported, and then do it. At the least she needs additional training on the requirements of her position.

completely rude and unbelievable. Reminds me of those dumb Geico commercials...the ones where the prisoner is with his lawyer and the lawyer says, I have good news and bad news and the good news is always that he saved a bundle on his car insurance with Geico.

Horrible behavior.

Good luck to your DH...hope he finds something soon!!

Extremely rude and unprofessional! I truly think some people should not be in the recruiting field. When I was looking for a job I went to an agency and this woman starts to rant and rave about how I will never find a job if I dont cut my hair, and need different shoes. Now this woman could have won grand prize in a drab contest. I bet she's still in that dreary little office.

I think you should ask to speak with the office manager and express your displeasure with that recruiter. Let her kow how it feels to have doubts about herself.
