Do you think there will be another price per point increase soon?

I considered the last hike in prices (direct) substantial. Do you think they will up the prices again before beginning to sell Riviera? Even though I balk at the direct prices, I'm considering a small add on, which is difficult to find with the right use year.

Given that it will have been over a year since the last increase (January 2018) before Riviera starts actively selling, it's likely there will be a price increase. Historically, BLT has increased as follows:

Sep 08 $112
Oct 09 $120
Dec 10 $130
Jun 11 $140
Aug 11 $150
Jan 12 $155
Apr 12 $160
July 12 $165
Feb 15 $170
Feb 16 $180
Jan 17 $185
Jan 18 $191

ETA: dialed down the certainty of my statement and added BLT as an example

The one thing that has always been a certainty is that Disney will raise prices -- this a company that did not blink at all during three to four years of the Great Recession when, instead of lowering prices, it raised prices about 40%. As to how soon, it is unlikely Disney will wait more than a year from the prior raise and possibly sooner. It will undoubtedly raise prices again before Riviera goes on sale. That has typically been part of its sales plan for a new resort in the past --it raises prices significantly before putting a new resort on sale so that DVD can sell the new resort at a ridiculously high price while claiming the price is a bargain in relation to a higher priced older resort.

Sales at CCV are going very well and if they keep going it might sell out before Riviera opens and this would leave them without any open resort to sell at WDW. They may certainly start selling it before it is completed but it would be an harder sale. There is an opportunity here for the mouse to increase prices or reduce incentives.

I still think $200 to $220 per point is not out of the range of possible 'Initial' sales prices for Rivera. I know that sounds like a lot, but if they can try to grab some of the 'magic' from the 'monorail resorts' (whereas Copper Creek is mostly just a 'bus resort') then they could make an argument for increased value. And keep in mind, the Gondolas will be going to TWO different parks, and get you there in 6 to 12 minutes, maximum. That is faster than the monorail.

Of course, this presumes that the system works, works well, and that they keep running it during rainstorms and 'lightning' (it will be well grounded from lightning). Gondolas have been used at Ski Resorts and some other places, for many years. It is not new technology. It is proven, carefully applied technology, AND the company they have chosen to provide the gondolas is one of the leaders in the industry.

Do they usually announce the increase a few months ahead of time?

I don’t think so. I think the latest one was officially announced less than 1 month before it was implemented. This is coming from memory though, so someone else may know the exact timeline.

I agree! I think Rivera will be around $200-210/point starting out. Makes the BWV we bought in 1999 a deal when it was $65/point!!!! Well, at least in my
mind I feel a lot better!!!:woohoo:

You know that Disney wants to bring it in, starting over $200 a point. Why did they otherwise increase Polynesian and Grand. Floridian so high. Was part of the reason because of this? Besides at some point during the period of sales they do expect that it will be going over $200 a point. It will be easier to raise the price above that if they start out at that, and maybe offer some bonus incentives and discounts, whereas if they start out at 190 like Baylake tower they will have a psychological barrier to raising the price over 200. Not that it will probably matter.

Unless of course they start the DVC Member advanced pricing at $190 with an established plan to raise the price to $200 for the general population.

Then I’d be stupid NOT to buy it!

Disney psy-ops at its finest.

And that is exactly what the Mouse wants to hear

They typically announce it ahead of time but not always months ahead of time. That way they can use that as a sense of urgency to have a nice bump in sales before the price increase. They can say "sure you can take your time on your decision.......but the price on XX/XX/XXXX will be $_____ per point."

Yes.. I do think another point increase but not till 2019.. Maybe Spring 2019 when Rivera comes online.. Just my .02 cents worth....

I expect another increase if demand remains high. This will make the Riviera opening price seems not as high.

I think Disney has taken the approach a lot of housing rentals do, raise prices periodically just to show you can even if the economics don't support it. I'd say 1 or possibly even 2 price increases will be announced by the time Riviera starts active sales but the second might allow one to buy Riviera before the next increase goes into effect.
