Do you think the DP is worth it now that the tip isn't included?

I calculated it out and its worth it not to have to worry about it. We pay for it all now and will have extra money come June when we are going to spend if we wish...so instead of charging stuff on the room card in June which can lead to ordering more and more(we don't like CC's) we are paying for it now and will be in the clear in June to spend a little more as we know we will have it all paid off when we go..plus the meals are discounted when you buy them on the DDP...so we felt it was a good deal.

Although I liked it better when tip and apps were included - I still feel it's great value! Of course- my family and I all like food a lot too! I appreciate the ability to order whatever I want from the TS menus without being limited by cost.

We prefer the DDP, and feel it still saves us money and alows us to say yes when we would normally say no (desserts, drinks, snacks). But I did prefer when tip was included and would rather pay more upfront then have to think about that at our meal. I agree, I enjoy having it included at CRT.

We travel to WDW as a party of 6, 3 kids and 3 adults. Both last trip and our upcoming one we found the plan worked for us. Whether we were on the plan or not we still had the automatic tip so for me that wasn't an issue. What really made the plan work was being able to have a nice sit down meal every day and relax. We were able to bring the kids to plenty of character meals which paid for itself and I am not sure if I had been paying OOP for these I would have wanted to do as many. I realise that you are paying for it all with the package which I really liked. When I arrived my meals were all paid for

The best way to determine if DP is a good deal for your family and your trip is to "do the math". Develop a list of places where you are likely to eat as well what you expect to order. Total those items up, including the 6.5% tax you'd pay off the DP. I usually assume $3 for each snack credit. Add up those meal and snack totals and compare them to the DP total for your group.

I think the DDP can be a decent value for some and I second the above. We did the DDP in December and felt like there were times we were eating CS meals just to make sure that we used all of the CS credits. We also aren't big dessert people so we found that we would still pay OOP for an appetizer and the dessert would go unordered. My kids are 3 & 7 so there were times when they could have shared a TS because of the size of it or because my youngest was surviving on air and milk alone on that trip.

For our upcoming trip we made our ADRs (we always have at least one TS a day) and then I pulled out the trusty spreadsheet, plugged in meal amounts based on AllEars menu prices, had formulas for the tip and tax and got my totals. I also added in an appoximate dollar amount for one CS each meal and a snack (both per person) per day. Without tipping we'd make out like bandits on the DDP but add that back in what we'd pay OOP and what the DDP will cost us is within $20. We won't be doing the DDP because of wanting more freedom in ordering an appetizer versus a dessert or skipping a CS meal if we want or having the kids share an entree.

The only way I wouldn't do the DDP (DVC members) would be if I was traveling with a lot of people with different tastes. For us, it works well. My daughter and husband like trying new and different things. We tend to order more expensive things that we may not try if we were paying out of pocket. Sure, I liked it better when the tip and appetizer were included, but I'll still try to add it whenever I can. I don't like eating counter service all the time unless it's for a short stay. I haven't done the math real carefully, but I do believe we come out ahead of the game. I just love not having to worry about running short of money later in our trip. Since we have been using the DDP I spend very little money throughout the trip. That makes me enjoy it more!
