Do you really think it will be that HUGE like Disney is hoping for? I know Star Wars has strong followers, just curious if it will live up to the hype??

Yes! CM previews have been going for at least a week in DL and everyone is blown away. I know these are CMs so they are hyped up already, but from what I've seen it's amazing.
I have some friends there today with a CM and they are SW fans, but not fanatic. We'll see how they like it.

I do think they have to figure out a balance between all the atmosphere and the crowds. The special shopping experiences sound incredible, but very time consuming. I'm not sure how the wand experience at Harry Potter has dealt with this, but I can see lines getting reallllllly long for the droid and light saber shops.

When the land opens for everyone after the reservation period, it's going to wall to wall people. I hope the shop keepers and atmosphere performers don't get burned out overwhelmed trying to give everyone special attention.

To answer your question: yes I think it will be a huge success. Every review I have seen from SW and non SW fans has been mostly positive (other than waiting for Oga and to get into stores)
Can I ask a question in return out of complete curiosity: are you a SW fan? I ask because with all the info coming out from previews not sure a SW fan would still think it won't be a huge success, so just trying to understand where you're coming from in the SW fandom level

I like Star Wars, I was more into the 3 originals still love them. I just hate huge crowds. It was just a question out of curiosity more than anything else along with all the price hikes that will be coming and probably smaller if any discounts. Also, I know some people that are avoiding going because they are not that into Star Wars.

I see.
With Disney controlling the crowds until June 23rd it will be hard to predict the actual crowd levels in the land. I have friends that have never been interested in Disney but are coming to DHS because of SW

I will say for the short-term (which I will define as 5-7 years), it will meet Disney's expectations. Longer term (>5 years), it will need another e-ticket attraction.

I don’t think it needs another e-ticket for long term success. I think it will be packed for a few years (3-5) and busy for the foreseeable future past that.

I do think a ride without a height restriction and a table service restaurant would round out the land and make it pretty near perfect. And I think at least the TS is a pretty likely addition in the future.

I think it depends on the measuring stick. I certainly think it will be successful by most measures but I wouldn't be shocked if it isn't the Runaway success for years and years that Disney might be expected ... I recall one rumored report that Disney was expecting 8+ hour waits a year from opening ... I just don't know if it will be like that. With two of them it will spread the crowds and there is also a ton of other new things coming for Disney (not just Star Wars only fans) to be excited about

So, yes it will be very successful but it might not hit the "wildest dreams" level of some Disney executives (hope this all makes sense - it does in my head at least)

I think I it will be hugely successful. Flight of Passage still commands 2-3 hour waits and it's been open for 2 years now (is that right)? I dont know about 8 hour waits....I dont think I would ever wait for more than 2 hours for anything but I do think if they add things like a great character meal it'll be very popular dor years to come.

I think the whole land will be a definitive success. I don't think that it will command 8 hour waits for the next year (who would ever wait in such a line??? ), but I don't think that would be the measuring stick against which I would define "success".

That’s a loaded question. With the staggered opening of the attractions it could be quite a while. Look at Pandora, it’s still very busy nearly 2 years after opening.
I would say that Pandora is a "success", but fortunately, the waits at the shops and Satuli Canteen have gotten to a more manageable state. I wasn't there when it opened, but the "build your own Banshee" line was crazy at first correct? And now, they don't even have that area roped off. However, I can see the Droid Depot and Light Saber Workshop commanding long waits for quite some time - similar to the wand shops at Harry Potter world. Years later, still long, but not insane - very manageable wait times.

One difference between Pandora and GE is that people will have actually seen the movies GE is based on.

I wouldn't be surprised if a good number of the visitors to the Pandora area don't even know the attraction came from a movie, let alone have ever seen it. They probably think it's just another fantasy land Disney made up for the park.

When we were at AK a few weeks ago and went on the FoP ride, most of the people I talked to had never seen "Avatar". They just wanted to go on the ride because it sounded cool.

Avatar is the highest grossing film of all time. 15th when adjusted for inflation. You somehow lucked up and found either the handful of people who were alive in 99 and didn’t go see it, were too young to remember, or the ones who were born since then and haven’t seen it.
