To have a waitlist come through for 1 night, BLT lake view...in approximately 3 weeks?!

We just decided we'd like to extend our vacay if possible.

The only issue is that I don't have any points left without borrowing. And all my 2014 points are tied up in a current reservation. I don't want to have someone in MS cancel the entire reservation to complete the waitlist reservation, but I would be okay with giving up one night. Is that even possible to do through a waitlist?

So overall, I'm just wondering if we even stand a remote chance of getting something like this at the last minute? Ever happen to anyone else in the summer months? And how could I waitlist without indicating that an entire future reservation be cancelled so that borrowing can occur?

I do not believe you can set up a waitlist online that cancels a day off of a future trip, in order to use the points on your current wait listed trip. I would call in to MS to ask.

As to whether a 3-week waitlist is likely to fill- of course not. But you can try. If it were me, I would ask when I call in if there is availability to book the one extra night via a cash side reservation.

For a single night, this would be a reasonable concept. Cash reservations are a separate pool than DVC availability, so it is possible to secure a late reservation in this manner. Worth checking out, at least.

I'm afraid I don't entirely understand your scenario that you are concerned about the existing nights or somehow willing to give up one night. But if you are just looking to add one additional night then you should set up the waitlist for just that one night and indicate that if it fills you authorize them to borrow. It will not affect your current reservation. If it fill MS may or may not add it on to your existing reservation but I wouldn't worry about losing the existing whichever they do. If they don't add it on to the existing then call MS about having them link it.

We've got 7 nights at BLT, lake view, booked for June with 2012/13 points.

I have VWL booked for 9 nights this fall with 2014 points.

So, I have no more points available for booking until 2015!

If I do a waitlist, I would be okay with MS taking one night of my VWL reservation, but I don't want to lose the entire reservation just to be able to snag an 8th night at BLT this summer. I didn't see where I could indicate that online, so I will just call as one PP suggested.

Not sure if I want to do a cash room at BLT ($$$) But maybe we could try another resort for a night...there are several I'd like to stay at.

You can separate your VWL on a phone call to a 1 night and an 8 night, and make the waitlist cancel the 1 night if it comes through ! YES. I would call and do this to not accidently release/potentially lose all/ of the 9 nights.

You can also buy up to 24 one time use points to complete your reservation if you don't want to cancel that last night at WL. Good luck
