Do you think I had food poisoning?

We went out to lunch at a local steak house on Saturday and I had a burger and fries at 3pm. We then went to see Finding Nemo(great movie!) and I felt fine but then around 7pm I started to feel ill. I started having severe stomch cramps, I then started vomiting(YUCK!). Around 8pm I started to feel really terrible my vision even got funky, which scared the heck out of me! I kept vomiting on and off and tried to go to sleep but then I kept waking up in cold sweats, then I'd be hot, on and off for a couple hours, it wasn't a fun night.

Sunday I woke up and felt completely wiped out, probably from being dehydrated, I guess. All day yesterday I felt pretty tired and just lounged around, still not feeling like myself. I crashed early again for bed and woke up this morning feeling better but still not 100%.

Do you think I had food poisoning?

Yes. It is difficult to rule out a virus, of course, but I've read that most people who think they have a 24 hour bug, actually are suffering food poisoning.

I'm glad you are feeling better. I've had a couple cases of food poisoning where I thought I would die or end up in the hospital.

Boy, that's a hard one to call. We had something like that go around the office very recently...and just as you described. However, it was a virus, since there wasn't any food in common with the many folks who experienced it!

So glad you are on the mend...it's awful to be that sick. :(

Seth had this last week. I think it is something going around.

Did you have the Hershey squirts too?

We call it the Leap'n and Hoppin's in my house. ;)

Seriously, it's going around. I think you had a virus.

I had a bout of food poisoning about 1 1/2 years ago. I ended up going to the ER after close to 48 hours of keeping nothing down, not even water, because I was worried about dehydration. I was so unbelievably thirsty. I hate needles, but I was so happy to see the nurse come with that IV of fluids.

They also gave me some medication (fenigren? not sure of the spelling) that really calmed my stomach down allowing me to keep food down.

If it was food poisoning, it is possible that it was from something you ate earlier than the burger you mentioned. I only experienced it once, thank goodness, but it was horrible! I was pretty certain it was food poisoning because 4-5 of us that attended a party all got sick at the same time. The weird thing is, we had a party on a Saturday night, and no one got sick until very late Sunday night/early Monday morning. I read up on it and found that food poisoning can have an incubation period of 48 hours before the symptoms hit. Ours lasted about as long as yours. Glad you're better now!

Thanks everyone!

LOL! No, thank goodness!

I'm feeling a lot better now and so far no one else in the family has gotten sick, I'm actually hoping it was from food because I'd hate to see the little ones get so sick. :( I do have a really sensitive stomach and will catch a stomach virus everytime, usually I end up going to the ER because I end up getting dehydrated and can't stop getting sick. I've also been really stressed out because were in the process of moving, selling this house, packing and building a new home all at the same time. So I'm sure the stress and lack of sleep didn't help me either! lol.

Thanks for listening!!!!
