Do you think I could just buy some stones to make blarney stones?

Girl Scouts tonight. I am never one to plan ahead. I decided to have the girls make this cute felt bag and decorate a smooth stone for a Blarney stone to put inside. It is 46 degrees out and I live within a mile of three different lakes, but I fear finding smooth stones will be a chore. Dh has skipped al the smooth flat ones around here I fear.

Is there a store that would sell little stones to decorate with glitter and gem stones?

Do you have a Hobby Lobby or Michaels near you? I know I have seen them there before but I don't know when ( I don't know if they are a seasonal item or not). good luck

I have both, and I am going to Lowes to pay my bill, so I might look there. I am afraid at Lowes I will have to get a huge bag of them and I only need 15. I need to get felt at Hobby lobby anyway, so I will look there. I didn't recall seeing them exactly, but the idea of tromping around a lake and having DS want to goof around there seemed like such a hassle!

There should be some fairly large ones down the floral aisle at Michaels or Hobby Lobby. I know I've seen them down the aisle with the moss and those nice shiny glass beads that go in the bottom of the flower vases. I think there are probably 10 or so in each bag...so you wouldn't have to buy a huge Lowes size bag of them.

If you're really in a pinch, use a brick, grey preferably. I've been to Blarney Castle and kissed the actual Blarney Stone. It's not a stone at all. It's a section of the wall...about 4 ft x 6ft.

Another place you can look is some pet stores. Some of them sell bags of fairly large smooth stones for fish tanks.

I think I saw some stones at the Dollar Tree store. they were near the sea shells for decorating, and were in a mesh bag.
