Do you think Disney will be making temp. changes to the DDP during Aug. & Sept?

It seems that the free dining offer is just as popular this year as it was last year?

I remember there being some talk about extended restaurant hours, being able to trade 1 TS for 2 CS, trading credits for lanyards, etc. during August and September of 2006.

Do you think Disney will do the same this year? If so, when do you think these policies will be announced?

I know that Chef Mickey's is offering a lunch character buffet until the end of the promotion, we booked it for the day we are leaving. I know it is temporary and ends when the free dining promotion ends according to the CM.

I also heard the Narcooses's is open for lunch for 1 TS credit, and that Ohana at least is opening for dinner early. I am sure they will have to make modifications based on the lack of availability of ADRs

Last year several buffets opened for lunch and they extended hours for dinner lots of places. If you are looking to get in someplace keep that in mind, when they extend hours you can suddenly get into Le Cel for a late lunch/early dinner.

I think the other option was to trade one TS credit for 1CS+1Snack (?) or 1TS=1 CS + promo poster OR promo lanyard&pin set. Neither is a very good deal I think they were offered to appease guests that did not know they needed to make ADR's way in advance. I did witness some really angry people at podiums a few times.

They also called me twice to make sure we had ADR's (I used a different phone number and my name, the package was under my DH's name).

We have citircos for lunch and it's 1 ts, also ohana for a 4pm dinner.

Do they remove food items from the menus (such as lobster) just for the period of free dining, or make expensive items ineligible or is everything free game.

They won't change the menus like that (just because of free dining) because, although it is shocking, there will be people there that did not get the DP for free. People who paid for it. I know it seems like everyone has it, but the DIS only makes up a small % of Disney guests. There are only a certain % of rooms at each resort set aside for this deal, all the other rooms are filled with people that didn't know about this code and some of them will buy the DP.

That is not to say that menus will not change, they will. The lobster add on at Capt' Jacks is already gone (I think), but the lobster tails is still a main selection right now. Disney changes menus often, although some entree's stay, others come and go. I think Fall and Spring are two times of year where lots of menu changes seem to take place.

Hmm, we have Narcoossee's at 2TS our arrival night (Wishes, EWP). However, if we could eat there for 1TS, I might be tempted to change it and find another spot at GF to view these shows, lol!

I just tried doing this and the CM said there was no such thing. Which day do you have booked?

Hey,
I have it cit booked for Sept 20th. I talked to a CM that booked this for us because of the 1900 taking over gfc. I would try back and talk to someone else, I spent some time talking to the CM that found this.

I'm curious about adding a signature lunch for 1 TS...can anyone else confirm or deny. And where might we find a menu?

I was told by the CM that menues were not available (as this happening for a few weeks in the future, only). Others on this board have said that even though the lunch may be Citricos, it will only be pre-plated 1900 park fare food.

It makes sense that with the closure of 1900 Park Fare during free dining, they would open up the other GF restaurants for lunch (when they are normally not open) and do 1900 Park Fare food.

Maybe someone from last year's free dining can comment on what actually happenned... or maybe a GF CM can?

Subscribing too! I am having trouble getting ADRs for Sept and looking to see what is going to happen.

I did free dining last year and they definately did. They added lunch to Chef Mickeys and extended the hours at some of the other buffets. They also gave everyone the option of trading in a TS for 2 CS meals. I know that last year they started to call everyone about a week before your trip was scheduled to remind you to make ADRs.

I think if you are willing to eat at the less popular places, or the resorts it will not be a problem. I know that one morning there was another guest in the lobby making an ADR for that evening. I also cancelled a few of mine during the week we were there (too much food!). I was also able to get a table last minute for dinner at the Grand Floridian Cafe.

I read that Citricos will be serving the lunch menu of the GF Cafe. Since the GF Cafe will be used for the 1900 parkfare during refurb., Citricos will be filling in for the GF Cafe for breakfast and lunch. So it's not really a signature meal, it's the same GF Cafe meal in a different location. BTW, this is not for the free dining, it's for the refurb and will be from July until early October.

I have not seen anything official about lunch at Narcossees.

You can make a lunch at Chef Mickeys during free dining, we did. We learned about it from mousesavers.com

I read this....Disney does add some extra meal times at certain restaurants during this period. For instance, Chef Mickey's, which usually serves only breakfast and dinner, will be open for lunch between 8/28/07-9/8/07 from 12:30-2:50 pm
