Do You Think 9 Is Too Old For a Chuck E Cheese Party?

A party is a party is a party!!! Who cares where it is...they will have a great time!

When my son was 9 and in 3rd grade, he wanted a Chuck E Cheese party. I had always avoided it because I hate that place, but I figured this was his last year (probably) to have the opportunity for one. I didn't want him telling his therapist when he's like 25 "I always wanted a Chuck E Cheese" party, and my mom didn't love me enough to let me have one." :rotfl:

So, I relented, and we had the party. And all the boys from his class came and had a ball. No one suggested it was too babyish. I say go for it!

It all depends...My son wanted his 9th birthday at Chuck E. Cheese. I let him...He was young (immature) for his age, but I thought, let him enjoy it if that's what he wants. The kids liked it. Some will think it's silly, some will like it. I say do what your son wants, and enjoy him being young, because it will change before you are ready, and then you'll be sad like me.

I totally agree with this statement!

If he wants the party at CEC, then go for it! He'll love it.

We've gone with friends that had older kids.. and those kids enjoyed it too.. (early teens). Free tokens, pizza, cheesy prizes. Who would dare complain?

DD9 had a party there 2 yrs ago I think.. I know if she was invited to a bday party there she would love to go.. She still loves Chuck E Cheese..

I think it depends on the kids. I personally would have the party there since it is what your son likes. If some of the kids invited think it is silly then they don't have to go. I have a feeling a lot would show up though. I have a 10 year old sister (yeah, a big age difference between us!) and she would still go if someone invited her.

Let him go where he will be happy Summer. Now with sports plus closed down there really are getting to be less and less options for winter parties. I am not complaining because birthday partys at the bowling alley are booming and my ds are busy work, work, working and getting great tips. There really arent too many places around here in brookhaven, you got lazer tag in coram, the bowling alleys around and I know fun 4 all is probaby too younger geared for him and my kids went to some at the plasterkraze place in stony brook etc. when they were younger. If he is happy you will be too. Just look at all the smiles on his face when you take the pictures etc. Best of luck deciding and happy b day to Nicholas!!. We just took one of the ds to dave and busters in islandia for his b day. First time we were there. The food was o.k. but the place is a bit dark and seemed more older geared etc.

I was so dissapointed that Sports Plus closed. We had so much fun there. We did bowling last year and he really loved it! I called NY Party Zone a half dozen times this week and couldn't get anyone on the phone. It's a new inflatable place and looks fun, a little far out (Farmingdale). We kept playing phone tag and when I would call back I got their machine. So annoying and so unprofessional IMO! There is also that Karts indoor go kart place but my goodness their party is expensive. It's $499 for 10 kids!

I think we'll probably end up with CEC. It's either that or a party at Island 16 Movies. I just can't seem to find any interesting kids movies that will be out when his bday comes (Jan. 13).

Heck no! I'm 14 and I'd love to have a Chuck E. Cheese party! Although you know, I couldn't invite anyone because I would get laughed at! :p

No way. I know 10 and 11 year olds who still enjoy it.

I hate it, though. I really, really hate Chuck E.

I couldn't believe Sports Plus closed. That place was a gold mine. My kids still like Chuckie Cheese. What about having a swimming party?

My brother's bday is today and that is where he is having his birthday.

He turns 34 today:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

We went yesterday :) . My kids are 13 and 9 and still like it very much (the games and the food, not the mouse/rat).
My husband and I went to a friend's party there last year and the friend was turning 30 .
I think that the kids will enjoy it!

DS loves it there, loves to play the video games and ride the kiddie rides. Heck, he even likes the big rat :lmao: He's a bit immature for his age though. Do you think the other children his age will think this type of party is too babyish and not attend?

I think you are wise to think of this. Let me say I love the place and have had many, many birthday parties there. My kids, DS9 & DD8, do still like the place and we go for pizza now and again. I have also been known to bring a friend each for pizza with us. BUT, I think a group of boys, or even girls, together at a party this age will absolutely zero in on the fact it is for the youngish set and will haunt your kid over it. I think this is especially a bad idea if even you think your child is immature because if YOU see it, there is no way the peers don't see it. IMHO, no need to give the bullies of this world ammo.

Here is what I did.

Both kids had swimming parties in 2005, DS8 at the local Hampton Inn's pool and DD7 at the community center when it opened a few months later. The kids loved swimming while watching the snow outside

Last year we had different tastes, DS9 wanted a Laser tag party which went over REALLY REALLY well. Some Dad's went in to make sure our party kids were doing ok in the dark (I think they had just as much fun if you ask me). DD8 had a party at a place that had all sorts of bouncing equipment like a giant bouncey slide, obstacle course etc and the party leader lead them in games too.

Since my kids are winter babies DS soon to be 10, is already asking again for the Laser Tag place again and all his friends are begging to come. DD soon to be 9, is leaning towards the way more girlie Libby Lu side.

Some alternatives from DS's peers: Ice Skating party. Sleepover with semi-scary movies. Party at the Baseball range. A movie theater party.

Good luck

My kid had outgrown Chuckie Sleeze by the time she was nine, and I do think she would have found it a bit strange for one of her friends to have a party there at that age.

I find it rather insulting that you are referring to a place that many of our children enjoy as "Sleeze". Perhaps you need a lesson in tact.

Thank you everyone else for your replies! We still haven't made a decision yet! We might end up doing a home party since we might be moving and will have more space to accomodate the children.

The thing that I have noticed over the many years of having and my kids attending birthday parties is this: They don't care where a party is, they just love being invited and going to one!

I'm sure your son and his invitees will have fun no matter where or what you decide to do.
