They say "No flash photography", so a picture with no flash is fine.
I hate when people use their flash on dark rides. I try not to say anything, but last time we were in Energy, the guy in front of me was twisting around to take pics of the dinos...in my face. I yelled, as loud as I could, "My eyes! My eyes!" He stopped.

Renysmom, what kind of camera do you have with a museum setting? I have never heard of that. :flower:

I shut the flash off but we took 2 pictures on our last trip on Peter Pan with the flash on.

We were in the front ship and the next ship behind us was my child and her 2 cousins. Behind them in the next ship were my BIL & SIL. It was their first ride where they got to ride alone. They were age 3,4 and 5.

It was a cute picture and I didn't feel so guilty about it because I knew the 2 ships behind us were family. And I there were no other ships in that room yet, that I could see.

That is the only time I have taken a flash photography shot on a ride.

Last year when we were on Pirates lots of people in our boat took flash pictures and it really surprised and annoyed me. I couldn't help but speak up and I'll do it again, using a flash is very rude. I might like a few pictures myself but I could never ruin another persons ride experience like that. My bf had never been before, thank goodness we had riden Pirates once earlier!

I have an Olympus C-300 Evolt Digital SLR 8 meg camera.. This is my 4th digital (last two the kids kidnapped and I wouldn't pay ransom :rotfl: ). It is an AWESOME camera worth every penny, it has several presets including fireworks (used it July4th for the first time, pictures came out great, here is a link to one of them http://tinyurl.com/dpyar), sports (used that at a Nationals baseball game, again great results), portrait, night light, museum setting and a few others..

I know alot of people swear by the Canon Digital Rebel but I tried them all and really researched and stayed with Olympus, it has more options and was easier to use and lighter to carry around.. I can't wait to take WDW picts with it. This camera with my Canon I990 photo printer has put me in photo heaven

WDW asks not to because of the infra-red cameras on those rides that are their for the patrons protection. If flashes go off, the camera cannot read/see what is going on.

I don't take flash photos because A: it is against disney rules and B: they never really turn out well but I do take Digital photos with no flash and then bring the lighting levels up on my computer at home.

I've only taken the one in Haunted Mansion but honestly I would do it again in a heartbeat if the same situation happened. Its one of my favorite pictures.

If I've learned one thing from this board its that people let to much get to them. Pictures over and over IS a bit extreme but its DISNEY and these people want memories. It takes a whole lot to get on my nerves at Disney and I don't think I would EVER say anything to anyone to possibly ruin their magic.

Flash photos aren't allowed on some rides BECAUSE it interferes with the Magic being experienced by others. In most cases, many others. There maybe others around you who are riding that ride for the first time and are completely engrossed in the wonder, or others who feel that way no matter how many times they ride it. I have no right to intentionally disrupt that for them.

Yes, it is DISNEY, and as such, I think we all hope that everyone would show a level of courtesy and not intentionally disrupt the memories being created for others. This is not meant to be a negative judgement on anyone who does this without thinking about it. I'm sure most people who do this just don't realize how disruptive it is for others.

Beauty, I think your HM situation was a little different, as the ride was already stuck and the "Show" was interrupted.

No Thanks! I would rather STAY in Disney. In other words I don't take chances.

DD and I were on POTC last weekend and the seat in front of us and the boat in back were both using very bright flashes. It was very disorienting and IMO extremely rude. Another example of "rules are for everyone but me!". :wizard:

Yes, but the people on Haunted Mansion flashing a picture every 3 seconds was ruining MY magic, so I did say something so they could hear me when we got off. And actually yelled at them to stop when the ride stopped during the ride as they took pictures of the same thing over and over while we waited to go again. It lit up every room we were in. Yes, I had been on Haunted Mansion before, but so what. It completely ruined the ride for me and my DH. I want memories just like everyone else, but I'm not rude to others to get them.

I take pictures, but never with the flash, sometimes they come out, sometimes they don't. It would spoil my ride as much as others with a flash going off in HM or another dark ride.

NO!!! I wont take flash pictures on dark rides because I absolutely HATE when "IM" on a dark ride and someone's flash is going off. Its so irratating!!

I once sat behind a man in Voyage of the Little Mermaid who wasnt taking flash photos, but he was videotaping. He had his side screen out , and all I could see through the entire show was his glowing screen right in my face. ARGH!!! I just hate that.

LOL wow some people take things so seriously...

To the topic at hand, I didn't answer the poll because I didn't feel an option applied to my opinion. I have many in-ride pictures I'm very proud of - from Splash, Pooh, Pirates, Snow White, and a few others, yes, taken with a flash.

HOWEVER, I only do it if there aren't others to disturb. For instance, I was the only person in the ENTIRE RIDE BUILDING in Snow White once, so I didn't feel bad about taking all the pics I wanted. That same night I was the only one on Pooh, and the CM was encouraging me - I came around to the unload, he saw my camera out and asked if I wanted to go again to "make sure I got some good ones!"

If someone was constantly snapping away every few seconds I'd get annoyed, but if people take a pic here and there I'm really not bothered by it. I certainly wouldn't morally condemn them, but then again I don't think ill of people for reusing resort mugs. Guess I'm going to h-e-double-hockeysticks...;)

No flash for me. I dislike those who take flash photos when others are onboard and take away from their enjoyment. I hate riding something and seeing nothing but blurry lights and cant enjoy the ride.

I voted no.
Whether someone taking one or two flash pictures bothers me personally isn't really the point. Rather, if a flash going off diminishes the ride experience for ANYONE, then this is just plain wrong. It's not up to me to decide that people who get annoyed by others' occasional flash photography are being unreasonable, so therefore who cares what they think? If a ride or show asks for no flash photos, then that should be the standard we all adhere to.

However, the ride where someone doesn't sneak a flash picture or 2 is becoming more and more uncommon. So bottom line, whether this is right or not, I suspect we'll all just have to get used to it.

Definitly not flash photography - I think that would mess up my ride experience as well as others around me.

Now we have video taped a couple of rides, but always ask the CM if it is allowed before doing so. Funny thing, we really don't watch them; guess I like having the memory in case the ride closes up some day.
