Do take your camera with you, when your on rides and take photos??

If you do.......

are you actually allowed?

aren't you scared you might drop it or something?

im always can scared that using my camera on rides, might make the ride manfunction???

which types of rides do you use your camera on (rollercoasters, thrill, gentle all)???

If there's sufficient light, I typically use my camcorder (I take a camcorder and a digital camera...I'm such a geek). Otherwise, like in dark rides, I just enjoy the scenery and trust the images to my (not so trusty) memory.

All the time. I never know how the darker ones will turn out, but it never hurts to take lots and lots of pics. If I get one or two great ones I am happy. I always keep the strap on my wrist or around my neck depending on the camera. I experiment with different settings to see what works best in a particular setting.

Have fun,

I respect others by not flashing my camera. But I have taken a few shots inside the Pirates of the Caribbean when it was shut down for maintenance in the 1990s. A friend of mine is an Imagineer who was revamping some of the audio-animatronics. He called me a geek. Actually, I wanted to see how they supported those skeletons - like the one of that pirate holding onto a ship's wheel in a lightning storm and the skeleton who has a sword jabbed in his back and laying on the sand.

I tried to recreate that scene as a Halloween set for my front yard one year.

How's this for geeky: on our trip in 2005 I had a digital P&S, Ditigal8 sony video camera AND a Nikon film SLR. And I did use them all (quite a few times 2 at a time)

As for taking pics on rides. It depends on how comfortable you are with your camera. I've taken pics on BTMR, Splash Mountain, PotC, GMR and others. GMR I used my 50mm 1.8 lens. It was a little to close in most cases, but was great to be able to use the wide open aperture and get excellent results with no flash.

Yep. I do a lot of the time. The only rides I'm more careful on than others are the wet rides. I usually just hold on to the strap and fire away!

I've taken some on Test Track on the high speed loop and got some great pics.

Do you think if I used a dispsable waterproof camera on the hill on splash mountain, would the pictures come out good?

no it won't I tried it, those cameras come built in with ISO 800 cheap film and fixed-focus lens. I'll scan some of the pics taken using that camera on Splash Mountain and you'll see how bad they are.

I do take a ton of pictures on rides. I have taken them on Spaceship Earth, POTC, Great Movie Ride, It's a Small World, Journey Into Imagination With Figment, all the safari type rides, and Country Bear Jamboree. I won't take them on Splash Mountain because, eventhough basically all of it is flat, I fear that I will be too caught up in taking them that I will forget to put it away during the drop and ruin a very expensive camera! And the fact that I am too busy singing along with the song (yeah, I'm the loser behind you who knows EVERY word to it, feel free to tell me to shut up ;)) to take them. Rollercoasters and TOT I just don't trust myself. As far as being allowed goes, I only use flash when I can but that doesn't stop me from taking non-flash on the ones that I can't...I even bring a cloth to put over my screen on my digital so that you can't see the light from that when you can't use flash.

I often take my digital camera on rides. I wrap the strap around my wrist well, or leave it around my neck just in case. My new camera also takes video! Got great video of EE when it was still be previewed. It is great footage, and we laugh at the screaming of my DD and her DF!!!

I have taken lots of photos of the monitors that show your ride picture that is for sell. Many of them turn out great!!!! Once on EE though the little old lady cm shoved me from behind as I focused in then wagged her finger at me, NO NO. :rolleyes1

depending on what camera you have you might be able to spend$$ and get a waterproof housing for it...(i know for mine it's in the area of $200 so while it would be nice won't be my next purchase)

I take pics from rides all the time. I have some nice ones of MGM from TOT when the doors open up. I have some great shots going down hills and loops on roller coasters like the Hulk.

One tip though, dont let go of the camera. :thumbsup2

For water pics, you may want to try one of those water bags for your camera. I put my G5 in it all the time...I think the name is aquapak?

Google it.

I use my digital to take picks most rides, no flash, however rides where my camera may get wet or damaged, I use a disposable. As for the Splash Mountain pictures, you could try it, you never know, you might be the lucky one who gets the good picture.

My opinion is why take your camera to the park if you aren’t going to take pictures on the rides (individual opinions may vary).

I used my Canon Rebel XT & 28-135mm IS lens with the waterproof bagging method posted here a while back by WillCad and rapid fire mode to get these shots (those are my two boys in front of me):

I found it. Good idea. Very similar to the bag I have but much cheaper. I'll try his bag on my 10D.

those photos are cool

what the waterproof bagging method???

WillCad is a regular poster here on the photo board, that’s where I got the idea. On his personal website he gave instructions here: http://www.willcad.org/image_cameraponcho.html

But that site appears to not have the photo examples working at the moment (but his written instructions are still there).

But basically you take a 1 gallon ziplock bag and on the bottom you cut two very tiny slits. Then you put your SLR in the bag with the lens pointing out towards the opening. Put the straps through the slits and close up the ziplock around your lens (the zipper kind works best for me). I have a UV protective filter and a lens hood so that also helps protect the lens. You have to look through the plastic bag to compose your shot and press any buttons so it helps to get your camera settings ready before you put it in the bag, but it’s not necessary.

Sounds pretty simple and it is. It is also not really a water-PROFING method as much as a water-RESISTING method. I wouldn't take it underwater or anywhere I think I might drop my camera in the water (like a canoe trip), but it works for me on Splash Mountain and in the rain at my kid’s soccer games.

I just googled camera & ziplock and found this site which is similar, it also has the pictures:
