Do you take anything for spinny rides?

My daughter has talked me into doing the teacups and the swings with her this year. I can do any rides with no problems except for ones that go in circles. I don't get sick, just queasy.
Anyone find a good, mild remedy to avoid queasiness?

What works for me is the "Seabands". You can buy them at any pharmacy and you wear them on your wrists. It has something to do with pressure points, and I used throughout my pregnancy, long car rides and our last two trips to DL. I like that they don't make me sleepy too! Also, ginger is really good for nausea. Hope this helps!

My DSIL swears on seabands, she even wears them on SM& other rides like that.

They have ginger in capsule form in the vitamin section. I also know there is candied ginger and would assume it would work too. You can google it online too!

I shall investigate seabands and ginger. Thanks for the tips! :thumbsup2

Now what do you know about dealing with ears on an airplane....

I also agree with Seabands. DH gets queasy/headachey on spinning rides and this helps a lot. You can also find them on Amazon.

I take Bonine every morning before going to the park. I am a puker on spinny rides - and even on other rides if I am on an empty stomach - so it's a must. :tilt:

I second Bonine (active ingredient Meclazine). I have experienced little to no side effects and it is non-drowsy.

Do you get any side-effects from the Bonine?

None; it says "less drowsy formula". It works like a charm for me - and I need it badly (I once puked after taking my three-year old on a kiddie ride). Some lovely DISer suggested it way back in response to a post of mine here. :flower3:

But I'm not particularly susceptible to drowsiness from drugs unless it's very strong. You could first try taking it sometime when you're at home to see if it conks you out before trying it on a park day.

:thumbsup2 Excellent idea! I shall add it to my ever-growing list of things to pick up before the trip.

It's so funny that you have asked about my two biggest traveling problems :rotfl: ears and nausea! So for ears, I have to use EarPlanes, which you can buy on-line or in some pharmacies. I have terrible pain when we are descending, so I bought these for the last two trips and they were great. I still make sure to chew gum, but I didn't have any pain!!!

I was just researching earplanes! My ears can sometimes take days to clear and I hate that feeling. I'll pick up the Earplanes and give them a whirl!

Thanks for the tips! :goodvibes

Shawna, glad I could help! There is nothing worse than being so excited to go on vacation (especially to DL) only to then feel so crappy  I really hope they help you!

Grandaughter has chronic ear problems.

She is 6 and did all 3 and she was the only one who didn't have a problem

Also if you know you might have a problem ask the flight attendant to kindly ask the pilot to watch the cabin pressure. There is really no reason to suffer in this high tech age.

I never heard of the Sudafed, nasal spray for helping the ears. It's nice to read so many options! Thank you!:thumbsup2

Bonine (or generc anti nausea non drowsy ) one in am and one in pm throughout my entire trip helps me on all the rides including the plane trip down and back.

In addition to earplanes take sudafed the day before and of flight travel to clear congestion/fluid which builds pressure(and pain) during descent. Also inform flight attendants and request Captain execute a very gradual descent into airport. Chew gum and yawn frequently during descent. All help!
