Do you still take cash?

This is what my dh asked the sales clerk at the book store.

She was so nice and just calmly said "Yes sir, we also take credit cards but no checks." I just stood there for a sec and just started laughing. I told her if I hadn't of seen it I wouldn't of believed that she could answer him with a straight face.


She was so nice and told Tim that she made her day.

My DH likes to ask, "Do you accept exact change?" Most salesclerks look at like like he's a madman! (Until I roll my eyes and elbow him and they realize he's joking. )

I had a customer ask me that once, and I said "No, I am sorry sir, but you must at least pay $0.01 over, or I can not process the transaction." His reponse?? "OK, I deserved that one." and laughed the whole time. BTW ~ He did leave a penny on the counter

I have gotten some shocked looks if I pay for a large purchase with cash. It might not have been a big stretch for her to keep a straight face.

I used to work in retail.

I had someone ask me that one time. My response was, "yes we do, but we require 2 forms of ID for that"..... He looked at me in stuned silence for a minute before he started laughing....


But the best one I ever say was this rude guy come up to one of our clerks and instead of asking where the milk was, he says "Don't you carry milk anymore?" The lady said, "No Sir, it kept going out of date, so we discontinued it, sorry about that." and walked away.

Some doctor's offices won't take cash for the co-pay. They will take a check or CC or they will bill you - but no cash in the office. It eliminates all of the hassle of dealing with cash - no change, no loss procedures, etc.
