Dismom+two said:My tree came down the day after Christmas....the rest of the things came down today. I do however have a small two foot tree in the kitchen that I decided to keep up. I changed out the lights today, put clear lights with snowflake and winter type decorations. I am planning on keeping it up all year and changing it with the holidays. Does anyone else do this?? Any suggestions for the different holidays?
My mom used to have a tree that she decorated for every holiday! Here's what she had:
New Year's: horns, confetti streamers, little hats, clocks/watches/calendars
MLK Jr.: african print cloth turned into ornaments, little banners with MLK Jr. quotes in calligraphy (she made these herself) with multi-colored lights
Valentines: hearts, hearts, and more hearts! with red lights
St. Pat's: shamrocks, of course! and Irish flags with green lights
Easter: eggs, chicks, and bunnies with purple lights
Spring: Flowers, multi-colored lights, little umbrellas
Memorial Day/Flag Day/4th of July: Red, White & Blue, flags, little sparkly streamers
Summer: suns, ladybugs, little "beach ball" ornaments, little flip-flops ornaments, yellow lights
September: apples, school supplies, red lights
Fall: leaves, gourds, pumpkins
Halloween: ghosts, black cats, bats, spiders, cobwebs, orange lights
Thanksgiving: "cornacopia" (sp?) with lots of wheat, veggies, etc. and little turkeys and pilgrims
Birthdays: little presents, colored curly ribbon, multi-colored lights,
Mom was really into decorating for holidays, as you can see!
