I have read conflicting info stating if you do not finish you do not get a medal and I've also read you will get a medal it just will not have the year on it. Does anyone know (or possibly have first hand experience;) )?

I got swept in 2005 during the 1/2 marathon (closed out at the back gate at MK) and received a "participant medal", which was a Mickey head.

We were swept at mile 8.5 (?) which I believe was the last sweep point before the MK in 2005 and didn't get a medal.

There was alot of confusion at the 2005 race. They closed the back entrance gate at MK after the 10 mile mark. At the time, there was some confusion as to whether this was too early, or if it were supposed to happen or not. The traffic was horrendous, and most of the people who were closed out were stuck there with no water, no bathrooms, and no way to get home, since the buses couldn't get to them.

I got fed up and decided to walk over to the Contemporary to catch the monorail to Epcot and get a bus back to the resort from there. I forgot I had my champion chip on, until a race guy started chasing after me. When I gave him the chip, he gave me the medal. I thought I heard of earlier swept people getting their participant medal--maybe there was just a problem at that particular mile marker.

They're actually nice medals.

(we must stop this or we shall curse ourselves! LMBO!)

Those I had heard of getting medals I believe were all from the MK area.

Follow the plans (like Galloway or Bingham) and your training, your heart & soul plus the excitment will find you at the finishline kissing your medal. You'll be surprised by how pumped up you will be when you arrive the morning of the race. It really does boost your energy and the support and views just keep on pushing you. Best strong & train. :cheer2:

I'm not sure how much it helped but while doing my ellipitcal (even walking/running) I'd picture sections of the course and especially finishing. I would picture myself going thru the Castle and the finishline. Even the section from Epcot to MK and back again. Find some really upbeat music to train with (check the link on the main WISH page on top). Positive re-enforcement :) You CAN do this!

Sounds good to me (I need all the goals I can get). Will "WISHers" that already finished the half come back out (or full marathoners with nothing to do early the morning before their race try) to inspire, to yell, to insult and/or otherwise to encourage those "WISHers" who may come close, but of course will not allow themselves to be, swept.

Hmmmm...sleep would be a nice thing to do that morning. lol However, I LOVE cheering for the half participants. We'll be there again, for sure. Main STreet and just as you go back into Epcot. There'll be others too. As fro going back on teh course, some may go to the finifh, but more will be waitin for you in teh meet tents. It's nto easy to fdo a whole lot of wandering right after teh race. ;)

If you have a WISH shirt, you'll have other WISHers' scream teams cheering you on too.

In 2007 I know Full members were out cheering on the Half and then on Sunday the Half members were out cheering for the Full. As it gets closer I'm hoping we'll plan out our course of action on where to station ourselves for cheering LOL

There WILL be Green along the way yelling your name or if we can't read your bib I was yelling WISH WISH WISH LOL

You'll love it!!!!

Yes we need to encourage our team mates to put in the training. And help each other accomplish our goals.
