on foods in the grocery prior to check out?

:rotfl2:

OK, where is the popcorn smilie??? You read my comment on the other thread, right? :rotfl:

yup sure did,, lol,, and you havent seen my reply there..lol

Now I have--I quickly ran to that thread to check. :rotfl:

Ok- I don't have a meal- but I might open a bottle of soda to drink and then pay for it when I pay for the rest of my stuff.

I used to work at Wal-Mart-people do it all the time. Especially people with kids. I don't think it's a big deal as long as they pay for it.

I snack in the grocery store, but its usually items that I am purchasing. I may open a box of crackers, take a few and close the box and toss it in my cart. I used to do this when the sweetpea was younger. She always needed just one nilla wafer while we were in the store. I sometimes will also open up a bottle of water and sip on it till I get to the checkout and then have it rung up. I dont think there is anything wrong with snacking in the store as long as you pay for it. I do find a problem with people snacking on produce or candy from the bin who have no intention to pay.

I have ocassionally opened things in the store, but I always pay for them so I honestly don't think its a big deal. I've never had a store tell me I couldn't, if they did then I would not.

Usually it is for my son. But I have been known to eat a few crackers if my blood sugar was low and so I wasn't feeling too great.

I also have opened a box of allergy pills while shopping because I was just so miserable.

And again, I have always paid for everything.

I have a regular customer who always eats a banana while shopping and brings up the peel to pay for it. I charge him 25cents since I can't weight the banana he ate which probably only cost 15-20cents. He's never complained about it and expects to pay so it works out but it's a small store and our register isn't computerized to scan.

I voted NO.

No to any foods that are on display and retailers/clerks are offering SAMPLES to you....eewwww, no way, I have some hygiene issues....(maybe it is more paranoia issues :lmao: ) but that is gross (IMO).

Also, I absolutely, no question about it at all, HATE grocery shopping :scared1: . So WHEN and IF I have to go (because on occasion my family does enjoy eating)...I get IN and get OUT as quickly as possible...yup...snacking to ME is something ENJOYABLE....hence you will not see me doing something I enjoy (snacking) while doing something I despise(groceries)!!!

I recently took a bottle of water out of the little refridge at the check-out at Wal-Mart...but actually, I did NOT open it until I was in the car....

NO!!!

I was the other person who voted yes, and ditto what she said. Never anything sold by weight and we always, always pay for it even if all that's left is an empty wrapper.

No, I don't. I see nothing wrong with doing it, as long as you pay for it.

Absolutely NOT.

And my kids have survived quite nicely not being able to eat their way through a grocery store. :thumbsup2

Sure I do. Somtimes I'll crack open a bag of Goldfish to munch on while I'm shopping. I've never had anyone tell me no and if they did I would certainly not do it.

I never eat the food before it's paid for. I always make sure I'm not hungry when we grocery shop. I do sometimes get a drink though and pay for it when I check out. No one has complained yet.

Ditto to LindsayDunn...

If I go shopping and I'm hungry, you better believe I'm in for a $200+ grocery bill!

I will sometimes grab a Mt. Dew from the coolers up front at WalMart when I go it, but pay for it then...they put a sticker on it for me. If I get thirsty while I'm in there, I'll run into the McD's at the back and get a soda from there.

I've never opened anything, though. I do taste-test grapes, however. I'm not about to spend $1.99 per pound on some that might be sour. :)

I have never eaten the grocery store :sad2:

My mother never allowed that as a child, and now as an adult I wouldn't want to touch any food after touching the nasty grocery cart :crazy2:

I don't eat food in the grocery store, even if I'm hungry while I do my shopping. I usually just grab a bag of chips or something at checkout and pay for them with my groceries and eat them in the car on the way home.
