do you sleep in the complete dark?

Yes, except we tend to keep the blinds open since we live out in the country. But....occasionally a bright moon will wake me up.

As for artificial lighting, that's a no go, like the light on a power strip, the status light on my Sonos speaker or my phone charger, all have a small piece of electrical tape on them.

It's funny how as a grown up, artificial light will wake me up out of a deep sleep, where as I couldn't sleep without the TV on when I was younger. Don't know what caused the transition.

When I was younger, I had to sleep in darkness and complete silence. Now, for whatever reason, I prefer to sleep with my bedside lamp on. I also now sleep with a fan on for noise.

I sleep with the TV on so there is some light and background noise. I can sleep through the heaviest thunderstorms but if the TV goes dark and silent, usually when Comacast does an update, I am awake in a second. I'm lucky nothing bothers my husband, so he doesn't care, or he's gotten used to it.

We may be long lost twins. 🤣 This is almost word for word what I was going to write.

Yes. Complete darkness.

We have room darkening shades behind our plantation shutters because the shutters let in the smallest bit of light in the morning.

The is a little green light on our smoke detector in our room that I had to put a little
Sticker on because it would wake me up when I rolled over throughout the night.

One of my pet peeves is hotels where there is a bright light from a microwave or alarm clock that you cannot turn off. Also, those hotels that have some kind of nightlight in the bathroom that is always on. I like the room dark!

I cannot sleep in complete darkness. I have a two night lights on at all times.

Total? I probably get a little bit of light through the blinds from outside. I might have something with a light like some electronics, but for the most it's dark and I don't have any kind of night light.

Usually we have a nightstand lamp on or a night light we don’t like complete darkness.

No. We don’t have any registers in our bedroom so we have to keep the door open for heat and a/c from down the hall which is where the staircase is and nightlight. Also have light from clock.

As long as the light isn't bright enough that I notice it with my eyes closed, and that would need to be pretty bright, I'm fine. Lights from microwaves, alarm clocks, etc aren't nearly bright enough to bother me. With my eyes closed I couldn't tell you if they were on or off so why would I care?

Then again a few years in the military, you kind of learn to sleep wherever is semi-comfortable, and not be too picky about it :) It also made me where I can't sleep if it's too quiet 🤷‍♂️

DW wants near total darkness. She'll say "I can't sleep with that led alarm clock next to me"
Me: "But your eyes are closed and you sleep on your side facing away from it"
DW: "..."
Me: "Hmm, ok I'll unplug it" 🤣

Total darkness. I wear an eye mask if necessary.

My husband says I'm weird, but I SWEAR my eyelid skin is SUPER thin and I have light colored eyes and I can SEE light even when my eyes are closed. Any light. It looks like orange when I close my eyes if there is a light on, even a nightlight. My husband says when he closes his eyes, he sees black. I can only achieve that in a completely dark room or if I place my hand over my eyes when there is light in the room.

This is why I now travel with a roll of black gaffers tape (well, its really for my camera and lenses) as soon as we get into our room at the Riviera, a piece goes over the microwave, and then I totally don't put a small piece on the light of the smoke detector *wink*.

Last night I draped a sock over the extremely bright blue light on the microwave and that worked. Another tip, use a the clips on a pants hanger to keep drapes closed.

Pretty much except for the glow of various devices in the room. For some reason I cannot sleep well without a clock near me. I have an Amazon Echo on my side of the bed that serves as a clock, but it dims really well so that it doesn't disturb anybody.
