Do you skip any of the shows?

DH and I were looking at some of the navigators on another site. We will be on the Magic 7 night Western in July. We have the late seating so we will be going to the 6:00 shows.

We were talking about how beautiful it usually is outside at that time of the day, especially in July when the days are longer. After another cold winter, we asked each other if we really want to be inside any more than we have too.

Does anyone every skip a show to stay either off the ship longer at some ports or simply to enjoy the weather??

Which shows do you feel are "not to be missed?"
Which show are "just OK?"

It is Not as bad As u Think....After 6 cruises and 7&8 just around the corner I can say that we have not missed any of the shows

If this is your first cruise u may not want to either...

At that time of the day I would have to say that we r sunned out and a shower and a show is Nice ... Plenty of time to go out for a Stroll After the 45 minute Show before dinner.....

What is the dress code for the shows? Do you usually wear what you will go to dinner in?

No dress code for the shows - usually we just wear what we would wear to dinner or after dinner.

The stroll is a great idea AFTER dinner also - nothing like being in the fresh sea air at night with your honey!!!

P.S. - IF you happen to miss a show, check your TV schedule since they are also videotaped for TV viewing in your stateroom!

YEs the Dinner attire would be fine... Some times if we r having a good time we would just go in shorts and T Shirt and get dressed for Dinner After the show thereis about an Half hour After the show Before dinner...........Peter

Occationally they will do matinees of the shows as well. Sometime around 2:30. It isn't a bad time to spend an hour inside the theatre - tends to be peak capacity at the pool time. So occationally you'll be able to time shift. We did this with our kids because we had early seating for dinner - and kids who weren't going to want to leave the kids clubs and/or sit through a late show.

I think all the "Musical Broadway" shows are worth seeing. Our favorite was Hercules - which most people around here seem to like least (of course, it was our first cruise, and that's been playing for a while) and our least favorite was Disney Dreams (which most people like most - but I thought was too sentimental and the actors were phoning in their performance). So my recommendation would be to see them all and decide for yourself. If you don't enjoy them after a few minutes, you can leave - as half the audience is on pagers for their kids, you won't be the only one to get up and go.

We saw "Hercules" on our first cruise, didn't care for it at all, so we've skipped that one the last two cruises. It's kind of nice to be able to miss a show and "do something different" one night.
We enjoyed the "Golden Mickeys" but would probably skip it next time too (but don't have a Disney cruise planned anytime in the near future) but I would NEVER want to skip "Disney Dreams", that is my favorite and I don't think I would EVER tire of it!!

We always choose late seating so that we don't feel rushed getting back on the ship and trying to get ready for dinner. To be quite honest, on our 4 Disney cruises, we have only gone to one show, Disney Dreams. We travel to NYC often to see shows and have seen all the Disney ones there and to be quite honest, after seeing those shows in NYC, Disney Dreams did not even compare. We're probably just spoiled but we prefer to relax on the veranda before dinner instead of in a dark theater. But, we probably will go see the Golden Mickeys on our June 19th cruise.

The only one I would'nt skip is "Disney Dreams". This is a great one to see with the kids.

Hercules was "okay", but fun for your first time.

None of the shows are repeated during during the week...except a 2:30 matinee will also be shown twice at night...early & late.

There are three main stage productions Disney Dreams, Golden Mickey's and Hercules....there is a Welcome Variety show, usually a movie night in the big theatre and one night is Who Wants to be a Mousekeeter game show. The last night is the Farwell Variety show. The characters make appearances at both the Welcome and Farwell shows as well.

I made DH and the kids go to the 1st show during our cruise. It was "Morty the Magician" or "Morty the Magnificent"---can't remember the name exactly. Unfortunately, IMHO it was not good & my DH and kids did not enjoy it. I had gone on and on beforehand about how great the shows onboard were supposed to be, so after that, I couldn't get anyone in our family interested in the shows! They wanted nothing more to do with the shows in the evenings. Only other show I saw was Disney Dreams with my DD6, who did enjoy it but she is, afterall, 6 years old! Still don't think my DH & older kids would have cared for it. So, my advice is don't sweat it if you miss some or all of the shows. There are plenty of other things to do that you may end up enjoying much more!

I want to recommend the Talent Show that both adults and children can participate in. We have never failed to be both entertained and surprised at the various talents of our fellow cruisers and especially the children!
