Do you shred your mail

Yep. Anything with name and address on it. If it's a catalog or magazine, we just remove the address label. Other stuff, usually just the outer envelope. Unless it's a pure approved credit card offer, then I shred the whole thing. Your name shows up 2-3 times throughout those #%* things.

At work it's termed "pii", personal identifying information. The official criteria (at my job) is three bits of pii and it's just be kept under lock and key or shredded. Our shred bins are pad locked. It's always fun when someone realizes they need something they just put in a 50lb locked can. :rotfl2: yes, my job can be THAT tedious.

I'm super paranoid...I shred (or tear into little bits or cut up with scissors) just about everything!

We either shred it or burn it. I usually just toss it in the trash only to have DW dig it out and lecture me

Nope. We live in the country and have a burn barrel so we burn all our paper trash. It's allowed.

We do the same. Plus, we have a wood-burning furnace in the basement that takes most of our winter junk mail!

yes , as others have said anything with personal id, bills, credit card offers etc. As a victim of personal info "theft" on 4 occasions in the past 3 years on computers I realized that although I can't control those situations (SC state issue, stolen work laptop situations that had alot of persons info (not stolen from me) x 2 and hacked info x 1 from a hospital) I decided that I would to what I could to control my own information at home to the best of my ability.

It is interesting that burn barrels are still allowed in some places. I bet it has been 30 or 40 years since they banned it here.

No.
We do however, burn all our paper.

Anything with my name or personal information gets shredded. I don't shred anything else. If something has my name on it but the rest is junk, I just take my name off it and shred that.

I have never even heard of a "burn barrel"

I shred everything other than magazines- those I just pull the front page with my name on it off and shred that. I open my mail at my desk and the shredder is right next to me so it goes directly in the shredder each day- on Thursday mornings when I pay my bills online those go directly into the shredder too- the bills that I have set up for auto payment each month get shredded as I open them.

All the schools and grocery stores here had incinerators until the air pollution laws changed. No paper or cardboard recycling in those days.

:scared1::scared1: and people actually still do this to get rid of their garbage?????

I don't know of anyone who burns garbage in them. Everyone I know that has one burns small downed tree limbs or leaves, all the people around my parents have one. I live in city limits so you can't have them.

Here it happens once. After that a deputy delivers it.:thumbsup2

Wow not here- I have "misplaced" mine a few times until I got the courthouse that is closest to me! We have to call a number after 5pm and then they tell you which courthouse you go to- the one 10 minutes from me or the one an hour+ from me-- when my daughter was young in school I had to be home by a certain time and couldn't risk that hour drive so I just waited them out until my "number" came up for the closest court house, since they wouldn't let you hae a say in where you went it was the way that worked for me. I don't like jury duty, I will do it if I am called but don't send me an hour+ away!

Yes, everything, even if it has just our name and address on it. You just never know what can happen.

Yes, we shred or burn anything with account numbers or personal info on it. We don't shred or burn junk mail, that goes right into recycling.
