do you shovel

NO. We don't have a sidewalk by the road, only one from the front door to the driveway that we never use because we go out through the garage. I know, TMI.

Every time it snows cuz it's a city ordinance.

Plus, I want my driveway/sidewalk to look decent.

What is a shovel?;)

No, we don't get a lot of snow like SOME people do.;) Dadnabbit snow hogs!

Well, I would but I haven't had to since my h moved out. My fil has been doing it before I get the chance.

Dang...I thought this was a thread about some of the content on the DB LOL!!

Yes, and being on a corner lot... its a lot of sidewalk!

I think the township comes by occasionally with a sidewalk thingie, but thats only sometimes...

I try not to. Shoveling gives makes my hands hurt . I am a princess so I shouldn't have to do that sort of thing. Well, that is what I try to tell my DH but I don't think he believes me. ;)

I always shovel the walk, even if it's just a dusting. It is a city ordinance (not that they do anything about it if people don't shovel). Beyond that, I think it's important to shovel so people can walk on the sidewalk. Mail carriers walk in my city, and I would feel terrible if we didn't shovel and someone got she slipped and got hurt trying to deliver our mail. I walk from my house to the bus stop each morning, and I should be able to walk on the sidewalk all the way down the street.

Just a couple of pet peeves about people's shoveling habits:

I hate it when people leave do not shovel all the way to their neighbors walk. Someone who lives down the street from me left about four feet of pavement left to be shovelled, and now it is ice. Would it have really taken that much more effort to shovel the extra few feet?

I also hate it when people shovel their snow onto the street after the plows have finished plowing the street. I know people who have lost mufflers on iced over snow thrown on the street.

They are quick to give out tickets in my area if you don't clean the snow away from the sidewalks. My husband uses the snowblower instead of a shovel though.

I am SOOOOO with TLinden on this one. If you've got a sidewalk and it snows SHOVEL IT! I really wish they would enforces this law (which says you should have your walk cleared within 24 hours of the storm) because some of our neighbors NEVER shovel. Not that we live on a big street or anything, but some people like to walk in the morning (I do when it's above 32), children walk to school, the mailman has to make his daily trek and so do other delivery people. It's rude not to and dangerous too.

It also is a big pet peeve of mine when people on the corner of the block don't shovel a path to the street. You walk on the sidewalk and get to the end and can't cross the street because there is a BIG pile of snow there. Really peeves me.

When it snows I get up with DH at 5:30 and we shovel our walk, our driveway, and usually my parents walk (and their driveway if they are home). We work together and can usually get it done in under an hour (depending on the snow). Wish other neighbors would follow our lead!

I just came in from shovelling my sidewalk--BRRRR!
We HAVE to shovel here on West Point or the mailman won't come :p

Yes, we do. We also have a snow blower. My husband plows when it snow so it's usaully the kids and I out there doing the side walks. DH takes care of the driveway, when he's done plowing all the others.

I just came in from shoveling. I don't mind doing it or DH does it. All of our neighbors keep their walks/ driveways clean, too. It looks so neat.

only when there's snow on it..;)
