Only if it the absolute last resort...maybe once a year. I hate Walmarts!

I am a WEGMANS shopper! Wegmans is great :flower: I also like Target better than Walmart. However, some things I can just get a better deal on at Walmart.

Never , ever ! Under no circonstance !

China , the communist , against human liberty , against everything democratic , is getting richer and richer everyday , just because of the amount of stuff ( I call it stuff because of most of the things at walmart enter in the " stuff" category) that Walmart is making there ! I probably buy chinese made stuff else were , but it is the cinergy that is produce by Walmart that I dont agree.

Since Walmart encourages China so much , i fell that it is un-democratic to buy there. ( I was going to say un-American , but I am Canadian)

The other problem I have with Walmart , is that it is making everyone the same: We eat what Walmart is offering , we watch what DVD Walmart feel is appropriate , we dress how walmart feel we should dress.

Just one last thing : I work hard for my money , and I want to enjoy spending it ! It was nerver the case the case at Walmart. Shopping should never give you a headache !

There was a fascinating piec in the magazine " Food and Wine" about the effect that Walmart had on our way of eating. One companie that produce high quality organic milk was selling to Walmart. Buty Walmart wanted to sell cheaper and went with another organic milk producer of hill repute , just to sell cheaper. There is a price to pay to buy cheaper , and it is not always in $$$

Forest Gump said it about KMart, but it applies to WalMart as well in my book.

Target is 110% better, friendlier, cleaner, etc. That said, my closest Target is an hour away.... so sometimes I have to shop WalMart.

Another vote for Target...but I will go to Walmart occasionally because it's closer.

Did go to WalMart, occassionally, until our town came face to face with their business practices!
Somehow, they have been allowed to widen a road for about $900,000 rather than build a rotary, for $5 to $7 million. fine, but to widen the road they will be taking land from 2 historical sites--one a home of an US President the other the home of a General & hero of the War of 1812--
You New Englanders know that our old homes all sit hard by the main roads & can't afford to loose any frontage. We can't legally stick a trowel in that soil but WalMart will be bringing 'dozers in there--no impact study at all! No care that we have lots of school groups & other visitors touring the grounds & house, which now will be right next to whizzing traffic!
To add insult to injury, the road widening will only suffice for Maybe 1 1/2 yrs, whereafter the rotary must be built, but because WalMart will have fullfilled it's 'obligation' to traffic abatement the taxpayers of New Hampshire will be footing the $5 to $7 million dollar bill
Yeah, I'm plenty ripped! I understand they've weasled their way into Lancaster, PA where the plan is to ring the county w/ 5 Walmarts--real good for tourism!

Yes, we just got a Walmart about 10 miles away from us about 6 months ago. To us, it's something new, and the prices can't be beat.

Both Ames and K-Mart closed so Walmart is the only choice. In this tourist community it is always packed. We carefully schedule trips - never on weekends and either early in the mroning or later in the evening.

When we are in Florida we frequently go to K-Mart. We should try Target more often - it's just across from Walmart and, actually, easier access.

I have been doing most of my shopping at Kroger's lately b/c they are easier to get in and out of and a little closer to work and home. Also, Kroger's has the gas discount if you spend a certain amount in a month and we have been going for that. I will be going to WM to get the kids school supplies soon. If I have the time and need a lot, I will hit WM on the weekends.

I don't really agree w/ all their business practices, but I like the fact that I can get groceries (especially cat food!) at a discount, pick up clothes for $3-4.00 for the kids, get sports equipment, get my car fixed, get clothes for myself and DH at a good price and so much more all at the same time.

They put in a new WM about 2 years ago much closer to our house and that one is much nicer than the 2 others in town. I also like the fact that they are open 24 hours. We make frequent late night trips on Friday and Saturdays.

I try to buy American made products when I can and if someone would like to open a business similar to WM w/ better business practices and American products and close to my work and house, I would be glad to shop there. We have 1 Target in town, but I generally only go there at Christmas. Santa likes to shop there, they have some good deals then on toys. Sometimes I will get clothes for the kids there. I find Target's clothes for myself and DH to be more expensive.

Anyway, that is my opinion on Wal-Mart.

I don't care for some of their business practices so I don't shop there. The only time I will go is if no other place in town has what I must have - not wants - I can do with out things I want - I am talking about things needed.

I haven't been inside a walmart in over a year.

My SO's son worked at Walmart all summer as a cart pusher! He was saving up money to go to Germany. He actually had some good stories about times when the cops were called! :cool1: Yes, we shopped there and went in to give him moral support! :goodvibes

Just an exerp of something i am reading now:

"What's also unusual about this campaign is that it's successfully engaging policy and politicians. At the state and local level, the anti-Wal-Mart forces are working to pass legislation obligating Wal-Mart to reimburse governments for the costs it inflicts on taxpayers -- in Medicaid, county programs for the poor, public emergency room costs -- by declining to provide its workers adequate healthcare. (Wal-Mart costs taxpayers an estimated $2.7 billion in welfare every year.)"

So actually , you save money on underware , but end-up paying the difference throug your taxes !

Well..Since we have no target..
Sadly...Yes... :sad2:

Me too.

Every week I go to Walmart for the household shopping (detergent, baggies, light bulbs, pet food, sodas, etc.) and then I go to Safeway for the "real" food and perishables.

I go to Walmart every Sat morning; DH stays home with the kids and its mommy time! (how sad am I that I look forward to going to Walmart every week).

I used to be there at 7a for them to open the doors and I can avoid the crowds; but the problem I noticed that at that hour there are only 3-4 registers open and all the shoppers are checking out at roughly the same time; so the time I save by coming in so early, is lost at checkout.

Now I enter the store at 7:30-7:40 a, and when I check out after 8a; additional cashiers have arrived and I'm usually 2nd in line. I have it down to a science. I just love Walmart and money its saves us.

DH is in the Union and says that I shouldn't shop there..I told him to tell the Union to give us some Target gift certs every month to make up the difference of what I save at Walmart and I;ll gladly switch. BTW I'm still waiting for the certs

We go at least once a week. I do all my grocery shopping there. Sometimes the produce and meat selection leaves something to be desired, but we generally go at night when it is all picked out. I get FURIOUS at the prices the local grocery stores charge for the exact same products. I use coupons, and even though WalMart doesn't double, they still come out far ahead of the local grocerery stores. I would buy the same products at either store, so that argument doesn't work for me about the quality.

I like the idea of getting toiletries, paper products, pet stuff, gardening things, cleaning products, DVDs, craft items, office supplies, automotive supplies, sporting goods and even occassionally clothing and shoes all in one stop. Sure saves me a lot of time and hassle running from store to store. We usually hit Walmart on a Friday night, and then run to other stores if we need something they don't have or don't like.

That being said, I do think the stores are a pain to shop in. Rude workers, rude (and STRANGE) customers, dirty aisles, disgusting bathrooms, constant restocking being done, always busy etc. But for the amount of money (approx. $20 a week just on groceries) and time I save, I suffer through it. Now, if we didn't have a Super Walmart, I would probably not go very often, because then Target would be my choice.

Are Wal Mart is always packed and crazy :headache:
so if I have no other choice I go there , but we just got a Target so I seem to end up there evey chance I get

I used to shop there exclusively when I was in college because it was the only place in town - now that I'm back home we don't have one convenient enough for me to go all the time.

Uggg, I wish people would stop *****ing about Walmart. If you don't like the store, don't shop there but please stop boring the rest of us to tears constantly preaching about it.

I LOVE walmart. I shop there all the time. Never had a problem there.
