thank you gifts?

I know, I'm a slacker. I just now finally got the (hopefully) last of our Christmas thank-you notes in the mail. Of course, now I'm wondering about one more. I volunteer in my dd's classroom and the teacher gave each voluteer a small gift, along with a note thanking us for voluteering. Would you send a thank you note for that gift, or not?

I haven't done so in past years, after all, I wouldn't send a thank you note for a thank you note, but does the fact that it's more than a note change things?

In this case I do not think a thank you for her thank you is necessary. Even though you received a small gift, it was a gesture of thanks. And to me is the same as thanking someone for a thank you note. If you do end of the year thank you gifts for the teachers you could always give her a note then thanking her for being terrific with the volunteer moms. Just a thought.
