Do you see Ocean life from ship?

Our best wildlife viewing was during the EBPC. We saw sea turtles and manta rays. Plus any number of birds. Lots of birds and a few crocs actually during the Canal transit. Lots of flying fish and lots of whales spouting in the distance but no actual sightings. Alaska is good, too, but sighting whales and orcas from the ship is pretty hit or miss.

Question - where do you go on the Dream/Fantasy to get the best view of the dolphins "escorting" the ship? Decks 12/13 seem like obvious choices, but they also seem pretty high up to get a good view of the dolphins. Is there some place better?

Last week on western Caribbean, dolphins and flying fish. And of course lots of sea creatures in Alaska.

I saw a small pod of dolphins somewhere between NY and Canada. I was literally the only person jogging at the time so no one heard my delighted squeals!

I've seen rays and it's not uncommon to see dolphins while leaving the port!

We were leaving castaway cay one day and we were playing mini golf on the back of the boat, there was an announcement made and everyone moved to the side of the boat. I saw a huge tail flip up and splash down that I still think was a whale but I know they aren't in the Caribbean. I really don't think it was a dolphin though either. You'll FOR sure see birds though!

If you're me you'll never see anything. No whales at all on our Alaska cruise. No dolphins (dh and ds saw them in the 5 minutes we were apart on one sail away). No sea turtles, not even on an excursion in Antigua (dh and ds could see them). I'm starting to wonder about my eyesight and my luck!

That's the kind of luck I would have, no doubt.

Except I'd probably be in a bow-facing room over on the starboard side and would see nothing.

I have seen dolphins, turtles, and birds, as well as a seal of some sort once. It's not like they are out there all the time, but sometimes you'll just look down and be lucky. It's fun when it happens. One of my favorite marine life memories was sitting in one of the sauna rooms in the Rainforest on the Fantasy as we were pulling away from Castaway Cay. I was the only one in there, sitting right by the floor-to-ceiling window. Below us was a huge school of flying fish, and they just sparkled every time they jumped. I just sat and watched them for the longest time. What a special memory. Thanks for making me think of it, OP!

Yes, try the 4th deck.

IMG_3973.JPG Mostly flying fish is what we have seen. But on or 2014 WBPC, we saw humpback whales and many kinds of birds.

We have seen dolphins, seals, flying fish and a whale. And lots of birds (which is upsetting if you are way out at sea).

We have seen flying fish on the way to St Thomas.

Also saw sting rays while leaving Port Canaveral. We were looking north toward the Cape and someone said there we stingrays. Looking straight down you could see them clearly in the water gliding alongside the ship. My boys enjoyed that more than the sailaway party.

We've seen Dolphins in PC and now I am wondering if this is an advantage of being on port side with a verandah while in port. We always cruise starboard side and see all the luggage loading lol. We saw dolphins through one of the big portholes on the main deck 3 when we were walking around killing time on embarkation day.

The most exciting "escort" we have ever seen on a ship was leaving Galveston in 2004. We were diverted there for a hurricane (Disney's first stop there) and as the ship was leaving there were literally dozens of dolphins in the front and on the sides -- all sizes, including babies. It was awesome.
