So I’m going on my first solo trip in early August. I am unsure what hotel to book. It’s only a four night stay. I’m trying to figure out if a split is worth it. So my idea behind a split stay is my least favorite park even though I love the rides is Magic kingdom. So I was trying to figure out if a split stay with a deluxe resort to take advantage of extended magic hours was worth it. My options are:

1. Four nights at Pop-Cheapest option, would not go to a park on arrival day. And just split magic kingdom with Epcot.
2. One night at Cooper Creek or contemporary then three nights at pop. Go to Magic Kingdom on arrival day and take advantage of extended hours. Con here would be having to move hotels. I have been wanting to stay at one of the deluxe hotels but don’t because my travel party rather not spend the money.
3. Four nights at dolphin. it’s not much more expensive than pop only $120 difference whole stay. Has the extended magic hours. Only con here would not would be not being in the Disney bubble.

Not sure if this helps with the advice, but I am a Florida resident and I don’t go to the parks often, but this isn’t my first trip and won’t be my last. Not sure about the solo thing.

I would opt for Dolphin. Gives the benefits of a deluxe but without the cost. No ‘wasted’ time packing and unpacking while mid-trip. And no potential, even if only a small chance, for them to lose your luggage. It’s +/- 15 minute walk to Epcot (and if you want, HS). If you wanted to walk to an adjacent Disney hotel, could hop on that bus to MK.

No contest - Dolphin. Up until recently (after becoming a DVC member), we exclusively stayed at Swan/Dolphin. Depending on the time of year, the rate + location can’t be beat IMO.

Wow, only $120 more...I would stay at the Dolphin. You have the option of EMH, a deluxe stay and a great location.

Swan and Dolphin are totally inside the Disney bubble. Those are my typical go to hotel. My October trip is a bit odd as the Swolphin is higher than the Contemporary that weekend.

Dolphin. It’s so nice to be able to just stroll over to Epcot whenever you like. I also loved walking back from Hollywood Studios at closing one night while everybody else was in big lines for busses and boats.

Do not split for so many nights too much packing and unpacking checking in and out. Takes too much time. Dolphin still on Disney and you will feel like Mickey is there. You hear sometime see the fireworks.

I’ve done the one night deluxe for the deluxe evening hours and the rest of the trip at a vale. I like to put the deluxe on my last night. Switch over to the deluxe first thing in the morning (take stuff to Bell Services if room isn’t ready]. Whe the room is ready, take a break to settle into room for a couple hours, then hit the park and stay until the very end. Because it’s my last night, I really only unpack what I need and the morning pack up on departure day is easy. I usually enjoy the resort until check out time, and then either head to a park or Disney Springs before my flight home.

I think it’s more of a financial gain if there’s more than one person on the room, but I’ve still done it solo but only for MK late hours. The real thing for me is just the chance to experience that resort for a night. You gotta want that, too, or frankly, those two hours aren’t really worth the price difference.

If there is an after hours event or a party you want to try, I think those are more worth a bit of extra dough vs paying the deluxe rate and moving.

Splits are hardly worth doing for 1 night. Toomuch hassle. The deluxe are special and worth staying long enough to enjoy. I stayed at the Swan last trip. It was great. Honestly being right on the Boardwalk it still felt like the Disney bubble to me. For Deluxe Disney I rent via Daves DVC rentals and pay the cost of a moderate. Something to consider!
