Definitely more weddings. I have a large family with a lot of adult nieces and nephews. Funerals I have been to are for closer family - parents, in-laws, a few aunts/uncles but not many.

i thought that would be the case but it seems like more folks are opting for no services these days (pandemic seemed to usher in a trend).

i think it's offset a bit by those who marry repeatedly (never been invited to a 2nd funeral or funeral renewal ceremony).

I guess it depends. I have seen some families that do a viewing, a rosary, a funeral and a celebration of life.

Funerals for sure- I hate going to wedding so I make sure I am busy on the dates I get invited- wedding gifts are out of hand here if you go to the wedding so I would rather take a vacation with that money than give that out as a gift (unless I am VERY close to them).

It is probably close to equal. Even growing up by the time I was 23 it was split 4/4.
I don't count paying respects at a viewing of a neighbor/family friend from my childhood as going to the funeral,. Been to a few of them but that was representing or taking my Parents.

To begin with, I haven't lived my whole life yet, but if today is my last than in the first half it was almost exclusively weddings. About five years on either side of that current lifetime it was about equal, the later part to now it was mostly funerals. However, I have a few grandkids now that have just reached adulthood so if I can hang on a few more years than I might still get to have it go the other way. Most of my close relatives and friends are now deceased so that pool has gotten quite a bit smaller but the wedding cycle is possibly ready to start again.
