Do you scan the FP once or twice?

I've only done FP at DL so not sure how it compares to DL. When I was at DL, they scanned our FP at the beginning of the line and then sometimes later on in the line. The problem was that ocassionally I was in the time window at the first scan but not at the 2nd.

Is that an issue at WDW? Do you take screen shots so you can prove you have one?

I've never heard of this being an issue at DW. But I also can't remember any rides where I've had to scan in twice - maybe space mountain?

The second scan is to catch people who are trying to line jump from the standby line. They just want to see that you have a FP for that ride, and that it was scanned at the first point.

I’m here now. Plenty of rides that scan the magic bands twice. I’ve never encountered a problem scanning at the second point..even when we make the first point at the last possible minute.

I have never had a problem with scanning mine and a good number of rides you do scan 2x.

Interesting... I used FP+ all day long at MK (a week and a half ago) and didn’t encounter a single second scan. I’m guessing it’s because I was there on a “Value” ticket day (aka not crowded at all).

We were there for STar a half marathon marathon weekend in April, which was pretty busy. Over four days of park time, we never had to scan twice. It used to always be that you scanned twice but now most of the second check points are covered.

We've found it's kind of hit and miss. If they are trying to move the line along quickly, I find that they don't scan the second time, like at ToT. If it's a slower loading one, I find that they tend to do so like on TSMM.

We were there at the same time and saw the same, only FoP and ToT had the 2nd touch point in use. RnR had their covered, it was the first time I've ever seen it covered. All others have always been covered. I asked the CM why they covered them and they told me that too many guests put their tickets away and it slows down the line too much so they cover them. I guess there are more guests using tickets than I thought

I was there a week ago too and I know I scanned a lot at the second point ( I use the DAS too so I go through the FP of just about every ride)

Good point. We never ride stand by any more, only ride with FP, or we skip it. We'd decided that we go often enough that if we can't find a FP for a ride, we just wait to ride it next time. That way, we skip stand by lines for all rides. It's funny how we never use 2nd touch points when we go but others use them all the time. I wonder why they take them off and on so often? I mean, sounds like our trips were just a week apart. What could have changed so much in a week? Crowd levels were pretty steady

This was back in September but to my immediate recollection the only ride that had 2 touchpoints at that time was BTMRR.

This is just to my immediately recollection though.

As far as I know the first touchpoint is the only one that matters. I frequently looked for my next 'rolling 4th' after the first touchpoint. The system at least in MDE had already removed my FP as soon as I scanned at the first touchpoint otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get my next 'rolling 4th' as the system would have said I still had a FP on it.

There is no doubt at all that it's only the first touchpoint that counts the use of the FP.

I know about them changing the second touch point I did MK almost every day ( I would hop over in the evening and ride space, sometimes they used the second touch point and sometimes it was covered ( I think just one or two times it was covered). When I went on FOP the CM said to keep out your cards for the second checkpoint the guest in front of me had to stop to put their cards away and would not let anyone go around then at the second checkpoint they held everyone else up to get out there cards The CM was not impressed at all that they had put there cards away for the 5 minute walk. The same thing happened at TOT guest stopped just inside the first checkpoint put their cards away and then had to find them again at the second checkpoint. so I can see where the CM are coming from. This was the first trip I saw this happen

not sure about this when I was using my DAS on RNR the second checkpoint was covered when I got off I asked for another DAS return time and the CM said you have one for right now, I did I told her I just went on and she asked if I used the second checkpoint and I said no she said that was way and let me ride it again. not sure if this is the same thing with the FP. but I have also been told by CM when I had to leave the line that as long as you do not touch the second checkpoint you FP does not go away ( when there are two.)
