Do you scan the FP once or twice?

not sure about this when I was using my DAS on RNR the second checkpoint was covered when I got off I asked for another DAS return time and the CM said you have one for right now, I did I told her I just went on and she asked if I used the second checkpoint and I said no she said that was way and let me ride it again. not sure if this is the same thing with the FP. but I have also been told by CM when I had to leave the line that as long as you do not touch the second checkpoint you FP does not go away ( when there are two.)
DAS may well be different, I don't use those, but with FP it is the first touch point only. There is no doubt about it.

I know about them changing the second touch point I did MK almost every day ( I would hop over in the evening and ride space, sometimes they used the second touch point and sometimes it was covered ( I think just one or two times it was covered). When I went on FOP the CM said to keep out your cards for the second checkpoint the guest in front of me had to stop to put their cards away and would not let anyone go around then at the second checkpoint they held everyone else up to get out there cards The CM was not impressed at all that they had put there cards away for the 5 minute walk. The same thing happened at TOT guest stopped just inside the first checkpoint put their cards away and then had to find them again at the second checkpoint. so I can see where the CM are coming from. This was the first trip I saw this happen
FoP and ToT are the only 2 I've never seen covered. I just hope they keep the RnR covered. I hate their 2nd touch points.

It was a mixed bag for us the week of 4/16/18; sometimes it was inconsistent even on the same ride at different days/times (Splash, R&R).

One strange thing we saw...we tapped the first touch point at POC, and we saw a family of four go through the standby line, then cross over in front of us in the FP line. The second tap point was covered so I just figured they were jumping the line. However, we were right behind them in both the line and the boat - and the dad was a Loud Talker who appeared to be the only one who had ever been on the ride, so we couldn't help but hear their conversation. I honestly don't think that they realized they jumped the FP line - it seemed like maybe they didn't see anyone in the standby side in that open area when they came in the entrance. There were only people entering in the FP side at that moment, so they maybe just crossed over to follow the people they saw? :confused3

There’s a second scan for Kali in AK-there’s a section where it’s easy to cross over to FP line- we saw two men enter but they were turned away at the second scan.

We were there last week. I saw the second scan checkpoint in use at Space Mountain, Big Thunder, Tower of Terror, and Flight of Passage. There may have been others, but that’s all I can remember right now.

We've tapped twice at several rides last week (4/28-5/5). I did also get a green Mickey at the first tap point and a blue one at the second when using the grace period (interestingly it was 5 mins before not the late grace period). The CM just looked at the screen and waved me through. I assume he saw that I was in the grace period. My son also did his second scan at Star Toues before the CM was looking. When he was told to do it again, he got the blue Mickey but again, the CM looked and then waved him through.

That would probably happen less if they were consistent about having the second tap points active. A lot of people aren't going to be expecting them if they come and go.

there are some lines ( like space mountain) that should have the second checkpoint and some lines that really do not need it like soaring there is really no way of going from the standby line to FP line without everyone noticing. My thing is the line normally long and is it easy to go form FP to standby, if those are both yes then they should have two checkpoints if no then they should not. now this is just my thinking ( and what I have seen most of the time when there are two)

I agree. I meant consistent about using them on a ride not that every ride needed to have them.

On our trip last summer we got the second checkpoint at Kali too. We also got it on Splash, which hadn't happened in a long time. I'm thinking FOP as well, but I was really sick that day (pretty much sick the whole trip, not a contagious thing though) and so I might not be remembering it right. Maybe on 7DMT too?

We were there mid-April and got the second checkpoint on quite a few rides...off the top of my head, Kali, FoP, Spaceship Earth, 7DMT all had us tap at the second point, in addition to several others I know I'm missing. :)

I’ve been modifying & adding FPs while here. I can’t schedule a fourth FP until the second check point. The current ride keeps showing until then. Should I be doing it differently?

I would think having the 2 checkpoints also aids them in making sure the Fastpass line moves at the proper speed. It tells them how long you were in line. So if you waited more then they want on the fastpass line then they can start taking less walkons. Probably why on slower days they don't concern themselves as much about checking the timing of the line.

Kinda like they would do in the past asking people to hold on to a lanyard badge and give to the CM at front.

You should be able to click on the + and chose another one as soon as you scan in at the first check point.

I did not have that problem last week and I was often on as soon as we all tapped in. I did sometimes have to wait a few minutes last year but not this year. I don't know what the issue would be.

Try again is the only thing I can say. I do it all the time, the second I scan in the first FP. I have my 4th done before I even board the ride. Works 100% of the time. And in the case of when I have only booked 1 or 2 FP at a park and want to book the others in another park, I can do that as soon as I scan in the first check point. Also has worked 100% of the time. Have never had to wait till I scanned in a 2nd time when a ride had a 2nd touch point, such as FoP or ToT. ToT is a great example too, as I always book it as our 3rd FP of the day. We do ST, then RnR, then ToT, every trip. I have our next FP booked before we hit the elevator at ToT.

it varies by ride. Some only have the first scan. Most popular rides have a second scan further in to be sure people aren't jumping lines.

I’ll give it a shot again today. Thanks :)
