I don't think people would find it inconsiderate to hold your chairs if you are in a situation like jennymouse described where there are plenty of tables available. And I think it's common sense that people should be able to hold a chair or a table for hours if they are swimming in the pool, or just gone to the restroom or to get food or drinks to bring back. But, if there are few seats available, especially when there aren't many to begin with like at the CR, it is truly inconsiderate, and even greedy, to save them while you go to a restaurant and eat there. If you're going to leave to go somewhere else, then do just that...leave! Why can't you find another seat when you come back, especially if it isn't crowded? I'm sorry, but while you're enjoying your lunch, my 89 year old grandmother has to return to our room. She could have sat for at least 40 minutes watching her great grand-daughter in the pool, but instead, several chairs sat empty during that entire time so you could go enjoy yourself elsewhere and get your chairs back when you felt like returning.
This situation reminds me of my 5th graders who always ask if they can get their place back when they leave the line, and then whine about how unfair it is when they have to go to the back!
If you save a chair or table to go somewhere else to eat, play, etc., then you must be worried that you won't have a place to sit when you return to actually use the pool area. Well, think about the many people who can't find a place to sit while they ARE there using the pool, and you are one of the reasons they can't. As I tell my 5th grade children, if the human brain could be "redesigned" to always make us put ourselves in another person's place before we act, I would never have to teach the pillars of respect, caring, and fairness again. I could also take down the "Character Counts" posters with the cute but corny pictures that they don't like!
