Do you remember ?

:lmao:
Casey Kasem's top 40 count down (or is it still around & I'm just missing it?):confused3

Sunday mornings a local radio station is playing "The Best of Kasey Kasem"! It's a flashback to the 70's.

I hear it on my Sirius. radio on the 70's station. I have no idea when it is scheduled, just get lucky sometimes.

:confused3

When TV was on the drawing board and you sat in front of a radio about the size of a juke box. Who was Lamont Cranston ???????

:wizard:

Triple A+ for PLUTOSPUP. Even got the opening line for the show.

I'll work on an other one.

john

Ok. Let's not forget about The Monkees, The Banana Splits, Underdog, Dudley Dooright, Dog N Suds, Schoolhouse Rock, Pop Rocks...oooh I am feeling old!!

:)

The earliest that I can remember on TV was Howdy Doody. Buffalo Bob Smith, Clarabell, Mr. Bluster.

Howdy had two Indian characters (male & female) on the show.

Names please.

1st TV I remember was Queen Elizabeth's coronation in 1952 - dad sold the things and we had a TV - I remember my mom telling me I'd always remember it - I remember it because she made me come in from outside to watch not because of the coronation.

:)

Dizney Luver gets an A+.

I kinda figured Princess Summerfall WinterSpring would be easy but getting Chief Thunderthud is a real winner.

I have to dig deeper to Stump The Stars.

john

PS: I stumped myself---Chief Thunderthud, the person that played him, had another roll on Howdy Doody---I kinda remember a doctor or a medicine man.
Very vague. I have no idea who the other character was ???? HELP ! !

Try not to feel too old! I remember almost all of these too! In fact I have the Schoolhouse rock collection on DVD.

What about Sat. a.m. Shazam! and Isis?

My 1st car was a 1950 and 1/2 Oldsmobile coup, It was one of the first 8 cyl

overheads with a hydromatic trans.

Sounded good, but ran like a pig.

I had a good PT job while going to school. A caddy at a country club. I dished the Olds and bought a '57 Chev (brand new), business man's special.
The body was either 150 or 210, not sure. Cardboarb rear seats.

It was a 2 door coup, very light, color choice was black or white. I had the white one. It had the square motor. 283 cubes. 3"inch bore--3"inch stroke. 4:11 rear, two 4 barrel carbs, 270 hp with an Arkus Duntov cam. I had exhaust cutouts in front of the mufflers. They were steam valves, which I could open or close. What a runner. Wish I had that lil bear today.
john

Whoa....you bought a 57 Chevy....BRAND NEW???????? Seriously??????

PLEASE dont be offended by this......but I would have SWORN that you were close to my age!!!!! You just dont strike me as an .......as an experienced, mature dude!!! (Ok....thats me doing all I can NOT to say the "O" word!!!) You are kayak fishing in shark infested, baracuda waters and living an enormous adventure...I though for sure you were a youngster. Sir.....you friggen ROCK!!!!!!!

:woohoo:

BIG DADDY---I like that handle. I actually saw another Big Daddy, Big Daddy Don Garlits with his 1st AA fuel dragster. It was not a Swamp Rat. Ran 8+ seconds at 180 MPH. That was haulin in those days.

Back in those days there was not a class for fuel dragsters. They just ran for show and excitement. Yeh I was a hot rodder and hung out in a place similar to Arnolds, on Happey Days---Yes we a had a Fonz, his nickname was Yeeyee. Last October I sold my final rod--A Shoebox ; Chevrolet Nova II, 4:56 rear, 3 speed racing auto, 409 cubes Chev with roller tappet cam, two 850 Holley 4 barrels, cheater slicks, viper yellow, naugahyde interior. I guess I grew up---You kidding "I'll never grow up".

Hard to believe ; Coach HS Girls' Basketball, kayaker. Still the guy who says "that looks neat, let me give it a try"----The hint is in my email address, johnw1940. The 1940 is the clue. DOB 10/26/1940---Do quick math, 70 years old this October.

When practice starts (b-ball) in the fall, I still run with my ladies. Peeeeples really misjudge my age. Everybody thinks I am 68. Ha, Ha.

Old, hell no. Not even mature. When we get to DIS, we will do Space Mountain, Big Thunder all that neat stuff.

We just got a new camera---Killed the other one. Laid the camera on the floor of the kayak. Missed the plastic bag. Cameras don't like salt water. Maybe when I learn the new camera, I will get a pic of shirl and me on the board.

Don't misunderstand. Johnnie is not superman, the hills are getting steeper.
I just have more to accomplish before the drool cup is a fixture.
john

Well....I'll be a SOB!!!! Never....and I DO MEAN NEVER in a gazillion years would I have EVER thought you could possibly be that much of a classic!!! Youre 100 times more active than Ive ever been (even as a kid!!!) You give me hope, man. Hell....you give our species hope!!!

:cool1:

I broke a major rule. If you get a compliment you thank the person.

A special thank you to Rog. "You friggin rock" brought a big smile to me and my wife Shirley.

I'm gonna pass that post along to my son. He calls me 'Old Man', but I love it. We are still growing up together.

I firmly believe in 'JUST DO IT'--I have a shirt I wear at b-ball practice that has that saying on it.
john

No "THANKS" required, buddy.....if anything, I owe YOU a thanks. Its great to know that we dont have to ever "grow up" regardless of our age. You, sir...are LIVING YOUR LIFE and making the most of it instead of wasting valuable time. You are a real inspiration!!!!

:thumbsup2 JUST KEEP DOIN' IT, BRO!!!! :thumbsup2

I hope to one day have the pleasure of shaking your hand!

Ohh! My first car, in 1981, was a 1966 Volvo. What a great car, I named him PT Boulregard (SP?) for the civil war general, yes I am from NY, but the car had such personality. My Dad purchased it for $100 and he had it Earl Schibbed for $69.99 (painted) I loved that car!

:woohoo:
Old, hell no. Not even mature.
Way to go!!!!!

Great that you set an example for those basketball players! If you can do it, they can do it too. May I ask what school you coach. My cousin played for Susquehanna Twp back in the day.
