Do you remember ?

We STILL throw a ball.
The neighborhood Ice Cream man. (An I/C truck still travels my parents street on weekends.)
Being able to Trick or Treat without a FBI background check.

I remember The Kids of the Kingdom and the live band who played at the base of the castle, the DW is your World show at the Tomorrowland Theatre, when BLSRS was If You Had Wings (and was the "free" ride during the old fair style ticket days). We rode that one a lot! I remember night time castle shows, immediately followed by Fantasy in the Sky, immediately followed by Main St Electric Light Parade. Talk about crowds in the courtyard!!! Those were the good old days for sure! Still love BLSS, one change worth making!!

Most kids STILL throw balls but few know about 500.

I'm afraid I'm one of them! (Unless we called it by another name! We were known for that!) Tell me what is 500?

I think some called it elimination. One person throws or kicks a ball and the others try to catch it. Each time you catch it you get points ( 50 - 100 ) whatever you choose. If the ball hits the ground its either half points or no points. When you reach 500 your the person throwing the ball. As I remember it can get kinda rough. Especially if your brothers or sisters are playing with you.

That does sound similar to some of our games, only without a formal point system. Our games got rough too! Bunch of hooligans we were. Thanks for the explanation.
I remember on a rare snowy SC day, our uncle flipping a car hood upside down, hooking it to another vehichle and giving us rides up and down the icey road! Fun, but the grownups would probably be turned in to DSS for that these days!

Do you remember when KC and the Sunshine Band and The Commodores (starring Lionel Richie) were pretty much regulars playing at the Magic Kingdom ?

That was the dayz The Commodores dressed in clown suits, :lmao:

Back in the day... "Brick House", "Three times a lady", "Endless Love", etc

Sounds like fun!

Our neighbor use to take care of the baseball field. He would hook up an old box spring to a tractor and drag it across the infield dirt - and a bunch of us kids would sit or lay on the box spring for weight. It was quite a ride!

I loved to go to the KC concerts at the MK! Including a few concerts the past several years I have now seen them 23 times!

Now that does sound like a wild ride!!! I'll bet it was a bumpy one too!:thumbsup2 The things we used to do for fun! I remember when it was still legal to ride in the back of a pick up. Grampa used to let us ride in the back of his. I wouldn't let my kids do half the stuff I did. I'd worry myself sick!:scared1:

Remember those crappy roll up sleds that never unrolled right:lmao: oh i hated those! I could never sit on it it just kept rolling back up!

Putting black trash bags on cardboard and sledding (maybe i'm the only one who never had a REAL Flyer sled) at my uncles we used a metal trash can lid.

I remember working and saving forever to buy my first ten speed bike and being so excited! Every kid wanted a bike! We rode through the neighborhood in packs :rotfl2: All my nieces and nephews want now are video games

Haha I can even remember what my first big wheel looked and sounded like!

I agree Kim- Trick or treating without adult supervision was allot of fun- I remember when adults would invite you in to get your treat bag and let you pick a cookie or cupcake off of the table. Could you imagine an adult inviteing a child into their home now? :scared1:

Did anyone else use pillow cases? We were always jealous of the kid with the king size pillowcase :rotfl2: And every kid in the neighborhood knew where the houses were that gave out FULL size candy bars or Quarters.

And dressing up meant getting creative and raiding closets?

Or if you were REALLY lucky you got to pick out one of those little cardboard boxes with the plastic mask and the vinyl costume. (i miss the smell of those boxes!) Wonder Woman, Batman ect

Do you remember the scary/haunted house and the creepy old man or lady that lived there? :lmao:

We had secret forts, in the woods by the railroad tracks and in abandoned houses and buildings that we would explore- the thought of children walking into an abandoned building to explore now scares the heebie jeebies out of me!

Freeze Tag,

Slip n slide :)

Does anyone else love Fluff n nutter or liverwurst sandwiches? My gr grandma snuck Liverwurst in my lunch bag for years, and I had no idea what it was. Now I know and I don't care- it still tastes good :) :cloud9:

All of the above, except liverwurst. I've made it 41 years without it. I'm sure it's great, but, I can't break my record now! :woohoo:
So glad to find a fellow Fluff n Nutter Fan. We made them for years and didn't know they had a name until DS5's occupational therapist was at our house and we had a fresh batch. She too was a FnN fan. We have a little twist though. We leave them open faced and lightly toasted. Be careful they will catch on fire if you don't watch them close! (Don't ask me how I know!):scared1:
There used to be an old store a couple of streets over from my grandparents house (not on a main road, just within the neighborhood). On Halloween the owner, who adored kids, would sit on his porch with GIANT galvanized washtubs filled with candy (the good kind!) and pass it out by the handsfull.
In his store, he had those Coke coolers where the drinks were packed down in ice and the bottles had the slivers of ice stuck to the side. What a wonderful man. It's been many years since his passing and I still remember him so well. Wow, I am really feeling nostalgic right now! Better stop before I tear up!
BTW, we have a slip n slide and old View Master reels from the 70's!

This is why it's called Fluff-ernutter. MMMMMMMMMMMM

Stop it! You're making me hungry! Besides, I'm all out of fluff....Hey! That almost sounds like an Air Supply song. (Most of you who remember that have probably blocked it out by now anyway!)

:lmao: Me too!
In fact just yesterday, DH was looking at me very strangely. My shirt had ridden up showing a little of the midriff. DH thought I was wearing a white belt that didn't "go" with my outfit! :rotfl:
Back on topic...Do you remember...
when the word "Christmas" didn't seem to offend anyone?
Casey Kasem's top 40 count down (or is it still around & I'm just missing it?):confused3

REMEMBER THIS!

Grandma used to set her hot baked apple pies on the window sill to cool. Her granddaughters set theirs on the window sill to thaw.

How about Grandma's apron,, (at least my grandma always wore a apron) it was to protect the dress underneath, but along with that, it served as a holder for removing hot pans from the oven.
It was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears. Grandma had a million uses for that apron, :thumbsup2
