Do you remember your first "date" with your current significant other, even if it was decades ago?

DW and I met in college December 1979. It was probably right before finals and Christmas break. Next semester we started hanging out together, and our first date was going to a college hockey game. Princeton vs. St. Lawrence. (We weren't Princeton students). This was the same night that the US beat the USSR in hockey at the 1980 Winter Olympics. I guess I was smitten since I was willing to forgo watching it. I didn't think the US would beat the USSR anyway.

Grabbed a bite to eat afterwards, then stayed up and talked all night in one of the dorm lounges. Both of our respective roommates were already asleep so that was the best we could do for privacy.

I think we went to one of the on-campus movies the next night, and then everything after that is a blur.

Our first date was an undate LOL

We had been talking on FB for a while and had decided to get together to catch up. We had gone to high school together although we never hung with the same crowds. We couldn't settle on a date so I said hey, let's do it on Valentines Day but not as a date date. He came over and I cooked dinner for him. I made my famous lasagna so he never stood a chance :rotfl2:

After that "date" we spent more and more time together and it didn't take long for either of us to realize we were falling in love. That was last year and we are getting married on Boxing Day.

Yes, I remember my first date with DH.

It was with his parents and two younger sisters to go to a gospel "all night sing" concert in Grand Rapids.

Our second date was a "triple date" with my two girlfriends and his two cousins. We went to a movie and out for pizza.

Our third date, we were finally alone...and I can't remember where we went! :rotfl:

I do remember, even though it was back in the 70's. I even remember what I wore! We saw Steeleye Span in Boston, an English Folk-Rock band. It was a very good date. We got engaged just four months later, both still in our teens. We are about to head to Maine to celebrate our anniversary.

Best wishes kimblebee on your upcoming marriage!

Diner at Michael's, she had lasagna.
Drinks at TGI Friday's
Then Funny Bone. Don't remember the opener, but he was good. Buzz Sutherland was 2nd & killed. Tim Wilson was the headliner & he bombed.
Back to my place & we talked (and smooched) all night.
Dropped her off at her place as the sun was coming up.

That was April 1st, 1994. We married exactly one year later :)

Absolutely! We'd been matched on eHarmony, both within 2 weeks of signing up (July 2008). It took us some months to get through the questions and then we emailed a little before we met in person.

It was a Sunday in November, about 2 weeks before Thanksgiving. Mid-morning coffee date at Panera. I got there first, got my coffee and waited near the window. Not 5 minutes later, I saw him walking up, and my first thought was "Dang, he's CUTE!" He saw me right away as well. He got his coffee and we moved to another table in a corner and just started talking...

THREE AND A HALF HOURS LATER...we reluctantly parted ways, as he was in an ice hockey league and had a game to play (and was already late). We exchanged phone numbers and a hug...and he called a few days later and we went out again the following Saturday...

I just like to tell people that our first date, for coffee only, lasted as long as it did. Must have been something there!

We went to a movie.....saw The Exorcist
1972 ......wow that was a long time ago

Well...We kind of had two.

The first was an unannounced set up by my roommate. We were at the beach and she was like, "Oh by the way, Mike(her boyfriend) invited this guy we want you to meet." They were always trying to set me up.So this guy shows up to the beach in SNEAKERS and SOCKS! Now, I'm a FL so this just didn't fly with me, plus his style just wasn't what I was into at the time. I spent the day flirting with Mike's brother() just to avoid him.

The SECOND date was my 19th birthday party. Again...My roommates were trying to set me up. This time they invited my now husband Jake, AND this other guy they KNOW I hated. The other guy was so creepy and was very into me. I spent this night with Jake trying to avoid the other guy!:lmao: I realized that he's a pretty awesome guy and we've been together ever since.

....He still doesn't wear sandals...Even to the beach.:confused3

I consider our first date a day when we hung out together at my apartment pool. It was the first time we had been out together alone.

Well, I had known him for nearly 3 years, and had a crush on him for much of that, but we did not date until we were in college.
He drove me back to the dorm after a group outing and I finally told him I had had a crush on him for a long time, and he asked me out.

He's a foot taller than I am and he used to talk about not liking that feeling of towering over girls, so I wore heals (and a mini skirt). I didn't know where we were going.

He failed to notice my footwear and continued on with his plans to hike up to Boulder Falls (in the dark, on ice--stupid and dangerous to my adult mind now, even in proper footwear). He ended up more or less carrying me because I couldn't walk on an ice covered unveven path in those heels :rotfl:

Well, it wasn't actually a date. He lived in the corner apt and I lived two doors down. He always had his curtains open and when I'd walk by, he'd look up and I'd look away. My sister was in town visiting from college and had used my car that day. When she picked me up, she told me she'd volunteered to pick my step mother up from work and drop her home. So we pick up stepmother and she bought us an 18 pack of beer for the favor. As we were passing his apt, he looked up and on a whim I held the beer up, pointed to it and then pointed to my place. I think he was there in about ten seconds, lol! He blames Budweiser to this day.:rotfl2:

He had been asking me out for six months but I kept saying no. My sister had a crush on him. My sister and I had and argument. He asked me out again...this time I said yes. He brought me flowers, took me to the Keg and drinks afterwards. We've been together ever since...14 years. My sister was mad at first but she got over it.

Yes. I was 16 and he was 19. We went to italian restaurant and then to the drive in. We have been together for 30yrs. So for our anni ersary we went back to drive in because they were having retro movie weekend. Loved it. Oh and we still go to the italian restaurant once month. Love this man

April 19, 1995. We walked from campus to the historic area of town, had dinner at cafe (which just closed this past year), walked around a nearby creak, and saw the movie A Walk in the Clouds.

We worked together and often went out after work for happy hour with the office gang. One evening, the group was out playing pool when he came over to me and said, "Hey, you wanna ditch these nerds and go have a margarita?" Yes, I did!

We ended up going out for mexican food and margaritas and then headed downtown to go dancing. I got home around 4am. We have been inseparable ever since. He still uses the margarita line on me from time to time...

Yep. Aprii Fool's Day! :lmao: We went to a Marine Band concert at Indiana University.

It was 1989. We are an example of a long-distance relationship that worked. We were engaged that Thanksgiving (after living in separate time zones from May through November), married Memorial Day 1990. Lived in separate states until we were married about a year.

In them olden days befur that dang world wide wackado web thang.

Our first "date" was to the homecoming dance in 9th grade (30 years ago). The price of admission was canned goods. It was my first taste of how bad my husband dances. Wow! :rotfl2:

Our first real date when we were older was out to dinner and bowling. He picked a restaurant with a wide variety of foods on the menu to make sure there would be something I liked. He made fun of me because I picked all the tomatoes out of my salad.

Four years later we had our rehearsal dinner at that restaurant. And about five years after that the restaurant burned down.
