I was one of the first 2000 folks to buy into OKW. My kids were still young and we spent the first 5 or 6 years spending our yearly vacation at WDW. Now my kids are older,... some out of the house on their own,... and now I enjoy either trading my timeshare to go somewhere else and maybe come to Disney every 3 years. It has worked out well with me but I bought in at $56 a point. I hear it's closer to $100 a point now.

No regrets whatsoever!!! Our family has had the best vacations since joining in 2002. I get a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes when I hear Welcome Home. It truly is our magical vacation home!! :flower:

We would do it all over again if we had to no regrets at all for the purchase of our points. We bought at HHI and SSR and Vero all because of the insentives offered at the time and have had no issues getting rooms in Dec at the 7 month window.

Do I regret our purchase? Absolutely not! I am so glad that we bought our DVC membership. It would have been nice if we bought in back in 2000 when Disney was selling the VWL, but the resale a few years later worked out fine. We're looking forward to many years of enjoying our points. I am already thinking about bringing our future grandchildren!

No regrets.

I am in the "this-forces-us-to-take-a-vacation-every-year" camp. DH does not like to travel, but loves WDW, so we are guaranteed a family vacation at least once every year.

(OK, so this year we are going 4 times, but who's counting? :teeth: )

We're also in the "wish we'd done it sooner" club. Love everything about it. We have added on 3 times and would still like more points. Our trips have all been incredible since we joined.

Every time this subject/poll comes up, there are always a few that vote in the negative. I do understand that although the vast majority of members enjoy their DVC, there will be some who do not.
Strange thing is they always vote, but never follow up with a post.

I would really like to see a post in this thread from a member who truly regrets their purchase.
[ClarabelleCow doesn't count, as her post implies she does like her DVC.]
It always makes me suspicious of trolls....

I rest my case...... :duck: :duck:

It's definitely the cheapest way to get a 2BR at WDW. But it's not the cheapest way to stay there.

If you decide it's right for you and fits your budget, then you won't be sorry. Just don't forsake your 401k and other retirement planning. It's more important than DVC.

Thanks for everyones input. At this time I've decided that I need to wait a little more (not quite enough money to put into now, maybe next year), but I do apprecaite all of the comments. I think what would really make it perfect is if when I am able to that the Contemporary was open at that point. Wishful thinking.

I just have a question for those who have purchased DVC. Is it worth it? Also, what is the cost above the charge for the points, such as for maintenance? Thanks for your thoughts.

Also, would it be worth it to purchase at a sight you don't really want, such as at Hilton Head or Vero Beach? The times that I like to go are usually at the slower times, such as when shool is in session, so would it be easier to use my points (should I purchase them) with only a 7 month window instead of the 11?

DVC is well worth it when we bought it. Even more when we made our first trip after being DVC members.

IMHO, I would probably hold off from buying HH or VB. VB for sure because of the high maint rates.

I really don't think you will regret your purchase. Even if you did you could probably resale it and make most of your $$$ back.

My 2 cents.
