I'm not willing to stake my claim and hold it long enough to see a parade, but may try harder next time when I'm there with my youngest. The AK parade goes back over its own route, so it's supposedly easier to catch near the end (the people who lined up to watch it have wandered off by the time it comes back around), for instance. And it's supposed to be easier to get a seat later for the MK parade in Frontierland than it is on Main Street. The HS parade doesn't look worth the effort, though.
We do like the "Move It! Shake It!" parade, because it's not so mobbed, and because middle daughter loves the opportunity to run out and dance with the parade participants. The costumed characters freak her out at little, but she's happy to dance with the guys on stilts and other Disney dancers.
I cant stress enough the importance of taking your time to take it all in and not "overdoing it".
Second this, with the caveat that you
can't "do it all", so trying to do it all is either going to be frustrating or you're deluding yourself. I think it makes more sense to be sure you're having fun whatever you're doing than to worry about what you're not getting done. And in my experience, some people who
believe they've "done it all," haven't.

They've done all the "musts" on some list they read somewhere and really don't have any grasp of what all there is to do. Which is fine if they're happy, unless you're a newbie trying to get some useful info out of them.
I think it's cool that you can go to WDW for one or more days, never go on a ride if you don't want to, and still be totally entertained the whole time.
Exactly. I am not much of a rides person, and I have asked some rabid Disney fans, "What is there to do at Disney other than rides?" and they've told me, "nothing. If you don't like rides, don't go."

Fortunately, I knew better.
