Do you really park hop that much with kids??

I would choose the no park-hopping and go to MNSSHP. We LOVE the Halloween party! The way the park looks is just amazing. I would just pick the park to explore each day and stick to it! Have a great time! Wish I was going this year!

Trying to trim our budget, do I really need park hopper tickets for October?? We can either buy park hopper tickets and no MNSSHP or buy Base tickets and MNSSHP tickets. What do you think, kids ages are 13,9 and almost 3.

I would go with the base tickets & MNSSHP tickets.

We have always park hopped and love it! Our daughter has been going to Disney World since she was 10 months old as we are DVC members, so we love to park hop. We go a minimum of every summer for 2 weeks, and only spend a few hours at a time at the parks due to the heat. This means that we go to at least 2 parks per day as we always eat table service and therefore spend a lot of time at Epcot as our fav restaurants are there. Park hopping is a must for us as it allows us to eat where we want, see a nighttime show and just plain slow down our pace as we don't feel pressured to cram everything into 1 day.

It really depends on your children and what time of year you go, but park hopping is a must for many of us!

Happy vacationing, Tiger

We choice not to get the park hopers last time we went in sept. my kids were 5,3, 12months, it was way to much of a pain in the butt to go from one park to the other, just the time out of the parks was like $$ we were waisting IMO.
The kids usally naped in the stroller, we had our dinning arangments made for each park each day, spend the hottest of the day in slow nice AC rides, or shows.

and another hello from the hoosier state!!

I love park hopping. We usually get the meal plan and eat somewhere different than where we are. Although, I consider it a luxury. We took our DD2 for the first time and opted to cut out the parkhopper option. It is always the first thing to go when I am trying to save money. I have been 10 times and half of those times we hopped. Have a wonderful time.

We've hopped some in the past, but it was always a strain on the day, quite frankly. it's so much nicer with kids to not have to rush and drag them over very large distances, by the time we got to the next park, it seemed more like work than fun! So now we pretty much stay in one park a day,and my oldest is 13 too. DH really hates rushing around, he wants to see it all where he is.

IMHO- With hoppers you are not tied to one park per day. I've found it more enjoyable to be able to do one park in morning, then go to hotel for nap.(beer). I then like to go to dinner anywhere I want to with no restrictions. And then it's back to another park for that evenings shows.

Wel I don't have any experience, but when I purchased my tickets a decided that for the money I was spending just to get there I didn't want to be limited in anyway. Maybe if I have been to WDW before it could be planned better but I'm not taking any chances. It's unlikely we'll make it back again. (I know, everyone says that on there first trip! :rotfl2: )

Well, I think my mom gets us park hopper tickets, but there is only my dad, and my sister and I. And my mom.

after reading this post and looking over my itinerary, i had the hopper option taken off my tickets. the only day we were gonna hop was the day we went to animal kingdom, we were gonna go to epcot and eat at lacellier for dinner. i cancelled that, we are not even doing epcot this time.

For me, it totally depends on where we stay. If we are walking distance to Epcot/MGM (meaning BC/YC/BW) then we definitely hop. That makes it so easy to come back in the afternoon, rest, then head to Epcot (usually) for dinner, or to MGM for Fantasmic, etc. When staying farther away from the hustle and bustle, then no, we do not hop.

Hopping or not, you will have a great trip!

Absolutely! SInce they don't last long we go to one park until lunch. Return to the hotel for naps or swimmimg, and see a different park at night.

Thanks for the info, I had planned on purchasing through mapleleaf. Is the mousesaver newletter cheaper?

790.00 for base tickets for 6 days plus 149.95 for MNSSHP.
949.00 for hopper tickets
I just checked on the mousesaver site and the cost for tickets (3 adults, 1 child, right? w/ park hopping option) would be $895 so not enuf to save big $$$ for the MNSSHP. :sad2:

Is there anywhere you can shave $100 so then you can get both???

Sorry I wasn't very helpful!

I bought hopper passes for our trip last summer and never hopped. My kids are a little younger than yours (7,6 and 2 yo twins at the time) but it just seemed like too much work to leave one park to go to another. I thought we would be heading back to our resort for naps during the day, but we never did so we just went to one park a day. I did not buy them for our trip next month.
Agree 100% By the time you get back to the front of the park, wait for transportation, ride to the next park, go through security and turnstiles AGAIN you have spent a good hour just hopping. We never hop, we do a good full day in each park. My kids never want to leave a park until they have done all they want to do there!

Don't work so hard that you are tired on your WDW vacation! :teeth: Do you need me to email you the mousesavers.com newsletter so you can get the lower ticket prices? If so, PM me your addy and Ill get that to ya!

We had the park hopper option last May, with a 5-year-old, and though I liked knowing it was there, we never needed it. Things just worked out to one-park at a time anyway.

I bought the Hopper tickets and just now realized that my itinerary has us staying in the same park each day...even with the swim/nap...I made our ADRs for the same park we were in.

I wonder if I should change them.....off to see the savings!

But I DO like the flexibility hopping gives us.

Okay....I would save $240 by not hopping (this is on a two day pass as we already have saved hoppers for the other two days). I think I must be crazy to keep this...right? The old passes I have will let us hop for two days.......

Anyone know if I can drop this without penalty from my Free Dining package (I have the Disney insurance)?

We never hop. I definitely don't think it's necessary. I mean - remember - you're at DISNEY WORLD. If the worst thing you have to contend with is that if you want to leave and return to a park later - you have to return to the SAME PARk?? REally - not a bad thing overall - they're all great. And if you only want to do one or two things in one park - spend the rest of that day at your resort pool or go to DTD or resort hop and see the sites they all offer. So much to do. IMO - the only time I would consider it is on a really short trip and you didn't have enough days to do all the parks but maybe really wanted to ride the new EE at AK or something. For trips of 5 days or longer- I wouldn't do it.

With a little planning beforehand, I don't consider it a hassle at all to stay in one park per day.
