I really, really don't like living where I live. For that matter, neither does my husband or my younger daughter. If we ever say we don't like it, we get looked at like we are crazy. How dare we not like it here. We are basically stuck here for the moment.
Is anyone else in this situation? Especially when it's a place that most people really love.

:scratchin hmmm...I see you're in NC. That's where I just moved after being in Central FL. Now, that's a place I *really* disliked. I *adore* NC!!! :goodvibes

I sometimes feel the same way (and my husband). We hate the weather here! We looked into selling our house and for the moment there is nothing we can do. We would have to do a short sale, which is something we really do not want to do. His company is very flexible, so we could move, but because of the situation with our house - we are stuck. I know one day I will be able to move somewhere warm with no snow.

I'm in the mountains of NC. Hope you are not here. :-) A lot of people really love it here, it's just not us.

We kind of have the opposite problem, house isn't the problem, it's the company. I definitely know how you feel about the snow. I don't ever want to see snow again. I hate snow in the mountains. Add curves & hills to icy snow and roads and it's nothing but trouble.

yep..our situations sound indenticle. My DS is going to be a Senior in HS...we have been counting the days, and now the economy is killing us on selling our house, DH getting a job elsewhere. I'm not giving up tho...I will noy live out my years here, no way!

I absolutely adore my city. I think it's the greatest! Everything DH & I were looking for/hoping for in a city.

But I cannot stand NE Ohio. And I'm thoroughly tired of just being somewhere where we've always been. I've been in this general vicinity for the past 25 years and really just want something new. Somewhere where I can't find my way to the nearest grocery store, school, Walmart & gas station with my eyes closed.

We'd love to pick up our city (and my parents -- can't live somewhere where they aren't!) and move it to another part of the country. We'd really like to move to Pittsburgh but that's not in the cards right now. DH currently has an hour-long commute to work & we'd like to move closer to his job, but there's no cities near there that has everything ours does. So we're staying put... unless he suddenly finds a job in Pittsburgh (doable) and we can get out from under our house (not doable).

YES! It is NY after all. Highest taxes in the country or something like that? Fairly awful schools, fairly awful weather most of the time (I HATE the cold btw), it's h*ll trying to run a business in NY (taxes again), and when you travel to another state, and people hear you are from NY, they give you the eye. It seems like a lot of the country thinks NY is all NYC :rotfl:

But seriously, I am also stuck. House probably wouldn't sell (can't say i have tried), tied to a business and feel like I could never go someplace else and make decent money, and to top it all off, my ex-husband is also blocking me from leaving the state. If he leaves the state, I could move, or I have to wait until my youngest is 18 (so 13 more years next month.)

I'll spend the next 13 years trying to figure out where I want to go.

I love, love, love where I live, unless it's cold and snowy. Ask me between Nov 1 and May 1, and my answer might be different!

I just hate my house....if I could have a different house but still live in the same area I'd be happy.

Hate is a strong word for where I live, but I'm not thrilled (mostly with the people - very small town with all the crud that comes with it). I'd move out west in an instant but my kids have a Dad who can't leave NYC until retirement so for at least the next 10 years, here we sit.

Yes I dislike where I live. Ten years until retirement and then we are outta here!

We live in NY and dont like it.

We want to go to Texas where dh worked for about 4 years. The people are really nice there.

I dont know if we could sell our house. I guess the 3 ds could live here if they wanted to.

Dh has about 2 years until he could retire early if he wants to. We would have to make sure about health care though since I have cancer.

I hate where I live. My husband graduated with a PhD in chemistry at the height of the economic turn down. He submitted resumes everywhere and only received a handful of job interviews. When he finally got a job offer we grabbed it and moved from MN to Silicon Valley four months later.

Rental rates are out of control. We pay nearly $2000 a month for ~1100 sq feet. The idea of home ownership seems like a dream. Finding a two bedroom, two bath apartment near where I work would cost us easily over $500,000.

I can't fathom the idea of having kids with both my parents and my husband's parents living thousands of miles away. I know that I was lucky with having my grandparents within a 45 minute drive, and I want the same for my children.

My husband has begun applying for jobs back in the midwest, however he works in a very specialized field and it may take away for anything to come to fruition. Until then, I will continue to hate my job, my apartment, my 45 minute commute of 12 miles, the late hours my husband works, the high price of gas, the missing of special family moments, etc.

Yea, I hate where I live.

I actually kind of like my city. Granted I've lived here since I was 11 months old. It gets real hot and humid in the summer but I've come to terms with that. Living in a tourist trap sucks a little.

Yep, I do. My dh and I both do. We recently decided that it's time for us to move on, so he's begun applying for transfers in places we'd like to live. We've got our fingers crossed that something comes from that :)

Yuck, HATE it. I moved down here to move my parents away from the hustle of NY and now that they're gone I feel like I'm stuck. I had planned to move when my son graduated but now I have a great job so I'll hang around till it's over.

Yes, I do. I live in the UK, and the area we live in has a lot of crime. I much prefer rural areas, anyway.

I love these types of questions because I love reading how diverse people are.

See I'm the total opposite. My dh and I love NYC. we can't wait to get back. the only reason why we moved was for job reasons and now then the kids schooling.

I hate the suburbs.

I watched the tonys last night because around here the only theater we get is the AMC 12 plex.

I hate that there is absolutely no variety in any thing. chain, restaurnants, chain department stores, come on. we have 3 malls within driving directions and all of them have the same exact stores. Do we really need 4 Gaps?

I can't even say the winter weather is a negative. At least people in NY know how to move in it. South Jersey gets 1 flake and everyone goes into panick mode. Like, it's a nuclear countdown and they'll never see daylight again.

10 years and we are either back in NYC or maybe Washington DC. We do want to check out Charleston SC though.

I really like where we live. It isn't over built like a lot of NJ but we're pretty much between NYC & Philly. Our school system is fantastic. DD has lots of friends and DH & I have made friends with quite a few other couples. We have all the seasons and no real natural disasters to worry about. The property taxes are high but given our quality of life I'm not complaining too much.

My husband and I have talked several times about moving. I have always wanted to move to FL but I think we have it narrowed down to the Carolina's. NC more than likely. My DH used to live in Wilmington and I really liked it when I went down last summer! My only issue is leaving my family. :(

Why don't you like it in NC? Or is it the city or house?
