I have several favorite books/movies that I read/watch over and over again. It seems so comforting and also I find new things each time.

Here's my list:

Books
Pride and Prejudice
The Harry Potter Series
Outlander
The Gashlycrumb Tinies (when I need a laugh!)

Movies
Star Wars (IV, V, VI)
Pulp Fiction
Star Trek 2009
10 Commandments
Back to the Future movies
Pride and Prejudice (BBC miniseries with Colin Firth)

So do you do this? What's on your list?

The only book I have read more than twice is Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. My favorite book of all time but for me, there are just too many books out there yet to be read to repeat ones I've already experienced.

Movies, yes, there are several that I have watched so many times I know the dialogue by heart. Most of the time, I will watch one frequently and then I tire of them. My current obsession is Avatar. Long term movies that I have stayed in love with are: Persuasion, Last of the Dogmen, The Joy Luck Club and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I definitely do that! - especially the Harry Potter books, as you mentioned on your list. There are a lot of movies I'll "watch" (sometimes just leave on as I do things around the house) whenever they happen to be on as well. The other day, it was "Three Men and a Little Lady".

I usually read The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides 2-3 times a year. I don't know why I like that book so much.

Yes, for some books and movies. I usually reread books for my nighttime reading because I have to read to fall asleep and if I read something new I find myself staying up half the night to finish the book :lmao:.

Oh goodness yes.

Books
Persuasion
Phantom
Chronicles of Narnia

Movies
Soo many, here are the ones most often rewatched
Back to the Future series
Shaun of the Dead
Bringing up Baby
North by Northwest
North and South (if you're a fan of P&P and never saw this one I highly recommend it)
Pride and Prejudice
Rear Window
Groundhog Day
Spider-Man

I rewatch lots of TV shows too
Buffy, Angel, Arrested Development, Seinfeld, Spaced

There are so many I'm missing in all these categories. I love having my favorite shows/movies playing when I'm doing housework, cooking, etc.

oh my yes!
Books
Beauty
Little Women
Beverly Lewis series
Lori Wick series

Movies
Little Women
When Harry Met Sally
Phantom of the Opera
Mary Poppins

I usually re-read books from my childhood. I was a big reader growing up and DH will always make fun of me when he sees me reading Blubber, or Are you there God it's me Margaret. :) They just bring me back memories of when I read them for the first time.

As for movies, I'm big on the cheese factor, aka anything playing on TBS! Overboard, Steel Magnolias (cry everytime), Pretty Woman-they'll get me everytime!

Oh geez, I'm not sure I can list all the books I read over and over, but I'll name a few off the top of my head.

Books:
Outlander series
Harry Potter
Lord of the Rings
Thomas Covenant series
Once and Future King
Pride and Prejudice

Shows:
Lost
Doctor Who

Movies:
The Right Stuff
Lord of the Rings
Harry Potter
Star Wars
Terminator series
Breakfast Club
Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Probably a whole lot more I'm forgetting!

Book -The Stand, and to a lesser extent, It.

Movies - The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles (Long Duk Dong still cracks me up every time), You've Got Mail.

ETA - if we include TV shows - Criminal Minds

Oh, there are plenty of books that I have read, and reread, and reread again and again and again. . . . Off the top of my head, the include the Harry Potter series, the Dragonlance books, the Myth series (by Asprin), much of the works of Niven or Heinlein. And there are plenty of movies that I will watch multiple times - Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, many of the Disney or Pixar animated, Back to the Future, the three Indiana Jones films ("Fourth? Crystal Skull? Never was such a beast."), etc.

On the other hand, there are plenty of books and movies where once was quite enough, thank you very much.

I usually read The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides 2-3 times a year. I don't know why I like that book so much.

Me too! I absolutely love him. If you haven't read Middlesex by him, you should. It's another book I read about twice a year.

ETA: The other things I read over and over are the Persepolis graphic novels by Marjana Satrapi, along with The Kite Runner - and I watch both their respective movies over and over. :)

Yes! I read books over and over again!

Some of my favorites:
The Stand
Jan Karon's Mitford series
Anne Tyler's books, especially Ladder of Years
Harry Potter
The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency series

I even read some of my childhood books:
The Betsy Tacy series
Cherry Ames

These books are my friends!

I used to do that, especially with comedy. I could watch a good movie several times, or read an article over and over juicing it for information or laughs. Now, not so much. Maybe another sign of old age setting in! These days, many times after reading, when a chapter or article is finished, I'll review in my mind what was just read. Think that might have spoiled the multiple readings.

I love to re-watch and re-read! Sometimes its like settling into a comfy pair of shoes..and you always catch something you missed the first time, or the second..or third :)

I used to re-read much of Stephen King and Anne Rice... "The Stand" used to be my 'sign of summer'-I would read it when the weather got warm. I've passed that down to my daughter.

I love comedies and watch many over and over. I also love TV series which I watch the most: Reno 911, King of the Hill, My Name is Earl, Dick Van **** show:cutie:
