Do you read threads you don't post on?

I read a ton of the threads here. But I don't post on a lot of them.

There are a couple of reasons.

There's the Back-Away-Very-Slowly threads. The threads that you just know are going to turn into something ugly - political threads, that spanking thread.

There's the I-need-advice threads. Most of the time, by the time I read everything, someone has already given the advice I would have given, so there's no need to post.

There's the Help threads. Most of the time, the question is answered by the time I read it or I don't know the answer anyway.

This pretty much sums up how I feel about posting.

I read alot of threads that I don't post on. These days, I especially try to avoid posting on political threads (specifically the liberal or conservative threads...I know when I'm out of my league). Sometimes I feel like a big dummy on those threads, because so many people know so much more about it than I do....and post alot of facts and figures. I enjoy reading them though. This is the first year that I've REALLY become interested in politics. I've always voted in past presidential elections, but haven't followed politics in past years as I did this year, and I'm really interested in learning more and more. Sorry to get off topic.

I read a lot more threads than I post on. Sometimes I will read the thread and see that a point was already made, so I don't have anything new to add. Sometimes I will read it and see that it is swirling the bottom, and will be locked, so no need to post then. Sometimes I just read for the sheer entertainment of it.

sure, all the time. I often read the first few lines of a post before opening it up by rolling my mouse over the title to see if I want to read more.

I do this too.

I often read and don't post.

Sometimes because after I've read the thread, I'm like "eh"....underwhelmed by it I guess, and not interetsed enough to post.

Sometimes because it's a thread that is just a lot of nothing.

If it's a political thread, it's usually because it has denigrated into "you're a dope", "no you're a dope" as most political threads do.
