The could you help me find another author like these I might like?

I love that I can follow Temperance Brennan, Kay Scarpetta and Alex Cross for many books and see how the author progresses the character.

I started 2006 by saying I was going to READ. I have never been much of a reader because i was raised French and never got into the habit of reading English books. So I started with The DaVinci Code, Angel and Demons, and his other 2 Digital Fortress and the other one(the name escapes me right now)

then I tried the Devil Wear Prada and HATED it...The protagonist was a little too whiny for me. I also read Night and some others.

A friend gave me my first Reichs book and I was hooked. Then on the cover it said that she was the NEW Patricia Cornwell so that is how I found her and LOVE her books.

I then saw someone reading James Patterson at the hospital one day and asked about him. Then off I went to buy Along Came A Spider and Kiss the Girls, they were ok...I liked them but I hated Jack & Jill, hopefully Cat and Mouse will be better as I just bought it yesterday.

What I am hoping is that you can recommend an author that may be in the same vein as the ones I have mentioned.

Thank you for any and all info.

Also, I am reading all the Harry Potter Books that my DH bought me for Christmas and I am liking them also. I am now on Goblet of Fire.

Tami Hoag (She does not follow the same character)
James W. Hall (He has the same character in his books)
Sue Grafton (alphabet books all have the same detective in them)

These writers are great. Tami Hoag has not written a lot but I loved every one of her books. Same with James W. Hall. Both of them are more sinister similar to Cromwell. Sue Grafton is good but her books are a lighter read. They are all mystery type books.

Harlan coben is my favorite author! He writes mysteries and they are awesome page-turners.

Nelson de Mille
Greg Isles
Stuart Woods
For humor, you can't beat Janet Evanovich!

i love Patricia Cornwell.
Does Reichs really compare? If so, once I finally read my copy of Cornwell's newest book, I will have to check her out.

Michael Connelly - Harry Bosch character

Lisa Scottolini - not the same character but very good police procedurals

A little lighter fare, but very engaging is Janet Evanovich and Diane Mott Davidson

And while not police procedural or detective stories like the above, the Harry Potter series is very engaging.

Oh also, Nelson DeMille

I think that is pretty much my reading list these days.

I read Patricia Cornwell and Kathy Reichs. I also like Tess Gerritsen and Lisa Jackson. They don't necessarily follow the exact same character, but a lot of the characters are in several books and intertwined with each other. I like the medical stuff so I also read Michael Palmer and Robin Cook a lot.

I just read my first John Sandford book a couple weeks ago. James Patterson has mentioned him in a few of his books, so I took that as my recommendation. I read The Devil's Code and enjoyed it very much. I've got a bunch of his Prey books waiting for me to pick them up after I read The 6th Target.

Stephen White
Jonathan Kellerman
Tess Gerritsen

You might enjoy Stuart Woods. Especially the Stone Barrington series. I believe Dirt is the first one in that series.

Faye Kellerman (Pete Decker series)
Jonathan Kellerman (Alex Delaware series)
Agatha Christie (Hercule Poirot or Jane Marple series)
Elizabeth George (Thomas Lynley series)
Martha Grimes (Richard Jury series)

I like

Jan Burke (Irene Kelly series)
Giles Blunt...a Canadian author (John Cardinal)

i'm a huge fan of both cornwell and reichs and read pretty much nothing but mystery novels, so here's a few i've come across that i like:

M.C. Beaton's Hamish McBeth mysteries
Rita Mae Brown's "cat" series (each one has a cat on the spine, i think)
Diane Mott Davidson (with recipes)
Joanne Fluke (with recipes)
Sue Grafton
Joan Hess - this author has 2 different series, the "maggody" mysteries (which are HILARIOUS and maggody is in title of each book,IIRC) and another with a main character i believe is named claire
Marsha Muller
Tamar Myers

i've been known to prowl the library shelves searching for new mystery series, lol. i also check out the mystery guild website from time to time looking for new authors.
HTH!

I too am a big JK Rowling fan. Another author I like is Jeffrey Deaver. He has several novels with Lincoln Rhyme as the protagonist (The Bone Collector) and introduced a new recurring character, Kathryn Dancer, a couple of books ago.

I would describe his novels as mysteries with a twist at the end. Lincoln Rhyme is a Forensic Criminalist with the NYPD. He was injured in a freak accident and, now paralyzed from the neck down, works cases out of his home with a team. Kathryn Dancer is a Criminal Behaviorist working for the California Bureau of Investigations.

Faye Kellerman (Pete Decker series)
Jonathan Kellerman (Alex Delaware series)
Agatha Christie (Hercule Poirot or Jane Marple series)
Elizabeth George (Thomas Lynley series)
Martha Grimes (Richard Jury series)
I love all of these plus Ruth Rendell (Chief Inspector Wexford).

I love Jonathan Kellerman along with Patricia Cornwell and James Patterson. Never read Cathy Reichs. I love reading a good book.

I too am a big Patricia Cornwell fan, although I have been very disappointed in her last few books, especially her most recent.

Anyway some others that I love are

Iris Johannsen (sp?) She overlaps characters in her books. If you go on her webiste you can get the order of them. Different ones pop up in different books. They are excellent though.

Harlan Coben of course is a big favorite of mine. He has stand alone books and also Myron Bolitar series books.

Stephen Cannell also has stand alone books and Shane Scully series books. They are all pretty good.

Michael Connelly is also good and has series books and I believe some stand alone books.

Robert Tannenbaum has series books that feature a husband and wife that start out as DA's in New York city. These books are really good, although they kind of go downhill toward the most recent ones. The early ones are much better.

Perry O'Shaughnessey (again spelling sorry) has a series of Nina Rilley books that are pretty good as well.

Harlan Coben and Iris Johannsen are the two I like the best though.

Cathy Reichs books are the basis for the TV show "Bones" and are very good...I liked them all except for one.

She is a criminal anthropologist who deals with OLD bones and works in both Charlotte (I believe) and Montreal, Canada. Her first book is called "Deja Dead".

If you like Patricia Cornwell, you will probably like Cathy. She writes from her own experiences in the field.

I was thinking of Trying the "Bourne" Series...Any comments?
Also, John Grisham...Any thoughts?

Also, I only like books set in current time. Can you please elaborate on previous recommendations?

John Sanford- the Prey series is excellent.

John Lescroart has a few characters that are in all his books. They are really good also.
