Wow, completely forgot about My Sweet Charlie.
Way off topic, but did anyone else have one of these dolls?:

Is that Mrs. Beasley?

No. But I had one of these:

And appallingly, she's currently starring in one of the new, horrid Geico commercials! Have you seen those yet? One with Chatty Cathy, one with the Flintstones, and the worst one with the "Cabbage Patch Adult".![]()
Is that Mrs. Beasley?
Yup. Loved mine. I had forgotten all about her when for some reason reading this thread the other day she popped into my mind.
I never had Chatty Cathy. I don't even really remember her, oddly enough, even though I think she was popular in my era (born 1963)? I can't remember anyone in the neighborhood having her so maybe she was slightly before my time.
Bonus points if you remember Mr. French's first name. No fair googling...

I didn't remember, so of course I googled it. Now I'm laughing because when reminded of it, I totally remember, and his brother's name too.![]()
Uncle Beeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllll! So sad, Buffy killed herself or OD'd or something. I remember that being a lot scarier than the fictional character of Alice ODing.

I had both dolls. However, I saw either an Outer Limits or Twilight Zone episode about a possessed doll that looked just like Mrs. Beasley. It freaked me out BAD. Mrs. Beasley sat on a shelf with her bak to my room.
I saw the movie "Go ask Alice" when I was about 12 and thought it was dumb.
DO you know the name of the ator who portrayed Giles French?
Ok, now you HAVE to tell me his brother's name because I forgot that!!![]()
It was scarier because I felt like this was a person I grew up with. I wanted to live in a high rise in NYC like Buffy and Jodie and the idea that someone who had that wonderful a life could end up OD'ing was scary to me. Of course, I wasn't old enough to understand the life of a child star and what happens when that life ends, and all the tragedy that goes with it.
Remember all those Jodie Foster movies and TV shows when we were kids?? I was thinking of them and this thread the other day when I saw the ad for her new movie. I wanted to be her SO badly when I was a kid.
Sebastian Cabot.
I secretly wished I was a member of that family, and that Buffy and Jody were my brother and sister, and that Cissy was my big sister. Of course, I also wanted to be one of the Brady Bunch, or the Partridge Family...
I was one of 9 so I always wished I was someone with no brothers and sisters, like Julia's son or Courtship of Eddie's (Judi's) Father.I was so jealous of the girl who lived next door, an only child with her OWN canopy bed and Barbie dream house.
Oh, God, The Courtship of Eddie's Father!!!! My own father died when I was two so I was always on the lookout for a TV substitute, and Bill Bixby was the best of the bunch - well, he and Mike Brady. I loved the housekeeper who called him "Mr. Eddie's Father" all the time - what was her name???

Mrs. Livingston? Something like that. I'll google it now.
