Do you pool hop?

We have never pool hopped, but we are considering hopping to BWV from VWL for this October trip. I understand that in the past Halloween Trick or Treating has been around the Boardwalk area, and so, we may hop for swim in the afternoon, grab something to eat at Spoodles, and do some Trick or Treating with the DGC...we'll see. Alternatively, I think I heard there would be trick or treating around the monorail resorts, then we wouldn't pool hop, but take the boat to Cont. and go from there.

Just to tell you we stayed at BWV several years ago over Halloween and BWV put on a fun Halloween party in addition to the trick or treating along the boardwalk shops. They had a DJ who did lots of fun games and dances, arts and crafts, Mickey came by in his Halloween costume and everyone had time for greeting and pictures. My family had a great time. :)

We have never pool hopped. It just doesn't appeal to us. It seems like to much work when we could take the elevator down to our own pool so much easier with little wasted time. :)

We hoped for the first time last Oct. at the Poly, we had some time between dinner and our Wishes cruise, the KIDS LOVED IT SO MUCH that we might do it again in Dec. I have to admit I felt like I was doing something wrong, since pool hopping is such a taboo subject:lmao:

Nope. I don't often use the pool at the place I'm staying much less go to another location. I never have been to a Disney water park, either. I have those at home, don't need to do them in Florida.

We pool hopped on our last visit to the World. We stayed at SSR and hopped to OKW, the POLY, Contemporary and BWV. It is a GREAT way to check out the other resorts for future stays. :thumbsup2

We picked a day that we were taking a break from the parks. The kids loved it and we got to get a feel for the other resorts.

I guess if you have little kids, it could be a lot of work. But to us, it was more of an adventure and we did find that we liked our pool at SSR the most.

We stayed at OKW a few weeks ago and took our bicycles (and 2 kids in the bike trailer) to the SSR pool and loved it! While I love the pools at OKW, the zero entry (huge, gradual incline) into the SSR pool was a huge hit with our 14 mo. old and 3 yr old. The little sprayground was also fun.

It's only an 8 minute bike ride from OKW to SSR taking the trail along the water (near the golf course) so that was a fun and easy way to get around. (It's the same walkway that leads to Downtown Disney, just the other direction).

If we had to take the car or bus, not so sure we'd hop to any other pools as it's a bit harder with little ones.

We typically pool-hop once each trip, usually to the Poly. We have breakfast at Kona then rent boats and swim and the kids play on the beach. We usually leave when it starts to get crowded as I know we are "visitors."

We have also pool-hopped to Coronado Springs (great slide), Boardwalk (scary clown slide), Riverside and OKW because we miss that place when we stay elsewhere. Every time we eat at Chef Mickey's the kids ask about pool-hopping at Contemporary but we haven't done it yet.

We can't wait for AK DVC to be completed becasue we have wanted in that pool for years :)

So we can even pool hop to non DVC resorts? Someone mentioned hopping to GF and then showering afterwards? Where are the showers at and are they at other resorts like Poly?

Yes, pool hopping is allowed at non-DVC resorts except at peak times when it is temprarily prohibited everywhere (like Xmas and July 4th week). We have never gone to GF but I bet they have a nice bath with showers nearby. At Poly the bathroom with showers is right under the big Volcano. We often change right there but will go back to our DVC room in cover-ups. I think pool hopping is easier if you have your own vehicle, which we always do.

LOL, well, it must be this upper midwest area, because we are exactly the same way! The closest I get to water on vacation is the hot tub!

It's interesting to me that a few of us don't bother using WDW pools. They are a huge draw for me! I was only in pools 3 of the 4 possible days on last week's mini-vacation, but boy, did I enjoy them....one was at Pop Century, and the other at AKV. Yes, that pool doesn't close and at 11 you just have a few guests for company...it was heavenly!:cloud9: Maybe an hour or a bit more each time!

We hopped to the new pool at the GF a few years ago. We had already checked out, but we had a late flight, so we spent the day at the MK, then swam, showered and changed at the GF's new pool, very nice way to end our trip.

Does GF have a slide? Any pics of this pool?

We'll be at BCV and using SAB every day, but on one of our days off in April, we plan on going over to CSR to try their pool. We've never seen this resort, and I love to try all the slides on property.:)
