I am a just curious if others do. I know C. Ann because she posts in blue that I can see better and a couple others based on some of their pics. This is a big board and there are alot of posters some come and go, some I am sure are on here often. I most of the time don't look to see what the name is of the person posting mostly for the reason that I have been on message boards so long that if someone says something i don't agree with or is rude repeatedly it gets to me pretty bad. So I don't pay any attention here so I am not taking sides in anything or getting resentments going based on replies. I started a thread one time about how I was so upset that my neighbors brat backed out on my on DD's birthday trip to disaneyland and got flamed beyond belief. I didn't pay any attention to who was saying stuff to me which is a good thing because I bet I would still be pissed LOL. Just curious about you guys.

I do not consciously pay attention, but I have found over time that some posters begin to stand out to me--either because they post about the same things a lot, have a distinct writing style, etc. Funny you mention C.Anne--she was one of the first to be on my radar as an individual--but I never noticed what colr she posts in:rotfl2: I just noticed she brought up the lake she lives part year at pretty often. I notice Tina because she always has really sound and reasoned advice and gives the real deal in a polite way (rare here). I notice golfgal because she usually brings up her daughter or the MN schools (or both). Bicker because he likes to bicker and use big words and post about TV related stuff. Bavaria because she had so much knowledge about travel and someone others seemed to always get offended if she told them the airlines might enforce their own rules. Imabrat because she talked about her cancer fairly often when I first started noticing her and then I was shocked and what a level head teen she was. Art1 because he comes from a very value conservative view point and tend not to try to be diplomatic in what he says, ETC. Basically I notice trends and then that causes me to start to get to know a poster--but I do not make any effort to learn who is who and memorize people's opinions and issues.

I only can name 3 off the top of my head. Christine but I am not sure why, no opinion good or bad or recalection about what or how she posts. DawninCT because she has had the same picture here the entire time I have been a member and she posts about things non Disney that I am interested in. The last one I won't name but the drama in their life and the amount of personal info she posts *even to me who on other boards I have met 60 plus of them in person) stuns me. Her life does sound hard and stressful but the drama of each and every post just blows me away.

And funny, of the two you do name:
Christine: I have no idea who that is.
DawninCT: Rings a bell but I cannot really recall much about her. I think she was posting a lot that i was recalling back when political debates were happening but has since kind of fallen off my radar.

I think it also matters what types of threads you tend to read.

I've got a few on my radar mainly because they post on a lot of the same threads/boards that I do and frequently I'm impressed with their sound reasoning and good advice. There are a few with memorable user names that stick with me as well.
Then there are other obvious ones like Robo and Cheshire who I remember for their expertise on certain trip planning subjects. There is only one that I remember with a negative connotation, but I aint naming names... :lmao:

Yes, some posters do stand out, for reasons others have mentioned: We have similar views, or on the flip side -- completely opposing views! Other people have helped me with questions, so they stand out, as well. And some posters are just so darn funny that you can't help but remember them!

There are generally some I recognize, as others mentioned, from a special font color or cool pic or something, but I don't consciously keep track.

I don't know that I really pay attention to names unless I see a common theme that emerges all the time. Sometimes I find myself reading a post and thinking, "Who in their right mind would say/think such a thing? That is insane!"

Then I look at the screen name and say, "Oh. Nevermind." :rotfl2:

So yeah, I guess I subconsciously have been noting the screen name and learning to disregard when I see them again. Most of the time it saves me the headache of getting into yet another useless argument with that poster. If I find that I can't resist because of the outrageous things they say, then their name goes into the "ignore" bin and I never see them again. :rotfl:

Well, ok, so I admit it is probably time for me to get a life and some real friends! :rotfl: I recognize every one of your names and I know who you are talking about when you mention C. Ann and Tina. I recognize a slew more names too. Too many to mention. Hadley, FWIW you stand out to me as one of the most diplomatic people on these boards. I have seen you disagree with people and I always like your approach. You use phrases like "help me understand your viewpoint". If only everybody would use differing viewpoints as an opportunity to learn and broaden their horizons.....

I do remember about a dozen or so....either because they're unusually kind and tactful, or just the opposite. Either way, they stick in my mind.

I've always been bad with names, but I recognize people by the photos, or their posting style i.e. The rusty guy who always numbers his answers.

A lot of times I read the post before looking at the name, but sometimes the names jump out at me. I know a lot of people by their names, but there are some that I know by their signatures or pictures and couldn't even guess at their names.

MerMom, for example...I know exactly who you are. Had absolutely no idea what your name was, though. :confused3

There are lots of posters I remember for different reasons but I rarely remember what they said in the past about any particular subject. I am amazed at those who do, their motivation and can't help thinking its "odd".

Yay! I always wondered if anybody remembered me or if I am just invisible! :cool1: Now I feel like an official Dis'er. ;)

Please don't think I'm strange, Dawn. I remember about your beloved dog who passed away last year. In fact, I was wondering recently how your new pup is adapting. I also remember you were looking to move to this area last year but changed your mind. I don't typically cling to people's opinions on various topics unless I find they are frequently in line with my own opinions or, perhaps, they have swayed my opinion. Therefore, I am less likely to remember opinions but can oftentimes remember interests or little factoids.

I remember you because you are an American family living in Germany and that's pretty cool! You are spot on about the other posters, and I'm impressed you were able to state it so... diplomatically.

Some people tend to spam the board with their view points, so that anyone with even an average memory would remember that individual's opinion.

Most of them I can only recognize whenever I glance over their post. Others I automatically know, like C.Ann, Liberty Belle, and FireDancer. :D

I've been around for a while so I can usually recognize posters right off the bat. Some I smile at when I see them post and some I roll my eyes at, mostly because of the way they post, if that makes any sense.

Some people have good memories for details ~ others don't.

Nothing "odd" about it. :confused3

I'm with SaraJayne in that I don't have that kind of memory for details on an internet BB. Heck, I don't have a memory for details when it comes to people I know in real life. But I think Dawn hit on a point when she mentioned motivation. I usually don't remember most poster's previous comments, but something might strike me as odd if I had a vehement disagreement with someone several months ago and now that person was taking the opposite stance that now agreed with my viewpoint.

For example: Let's say I complained last Spring about how schools busses were making me late in the morning and someone just kept hammering me over and over about my opinion, telling me I was an unworthy childless adult, my opinions didn't count, I should just leave because this is a Disney BB and there are going to be children at Disney and since I hate children I shouldn't be here...blah blah blah, yak yak yak, nag nag nag.

Suddenly this morning that same person posts a vent about how she was late this morning because of school busses and why can't they run earlier/later, how do people put up with this, blah blah blah, yak yak yak, vent vent vent vent.

Yeah. I might go so far as to look up that person's past posts and remind them of their earlier stance because I might remember the attack. pirate: Maybe if I'm feeling evil that day and don't mind the points. pirate:
