Apparently we here at disboards are Disney fanatics. We live it, eat it, and breath it. How many of us also own it? I first bought Disney stock a number of years ago because we couldn't afford a trip for a few years. I thought having a few shares of stock would be some sort of consolation.

What about you. Own any?

Yes.

Sadly they eliminated all the perks for stockholders over 20 years ago. No more discounts.

I do not but my non Disney loving husband does. He bought it years ago when it was marvel and it later changed to Disney. He isn't thrilled about it but has kept it for dd and when she is older she will get whatever is in it

Currently yes. I've owned it off and on as part of my portfolio for a long time. But I'm not sentimental about it. If I need to sell it or I don't think it will give me the return I want, I'll sell it.

If he owns actual "Disney" stock now, he should be pretty happy with it.

It's more than doubled since Sept 2011 (when it was as low as $29.83) and going back 5 years it's also doubled --- given that with ups / downs it was basically flat from Summer 2008 - Summer 2011.

I purchased some last Oct when it was about $50 -- so even in those 10 months it's gone up to $66-$67 currently, which is a pretty good ROI.

I bought DH Disney stock a couple of years ago and had the stock certificate framed. It is a really neat looking certificate!

You should do for it. It is a good enough stock to own. I always heard that you should invest in what you know and like.

I think he has had it since 2000? He thought about getting rid of it when Disney took over marvel but said it has done well enough that he won't dump it just because he doesn't like the Disney name. He is keeping it for dd's wedding fund or whatever she wants it for when she is older

I have it through my 401k since 2007. It's done pretty well and I don't plan on changing it.

Well, I actually buy it for my girls. I have a sharebuilder account for each of them and buy Disney stock for them. It has done really well over the past few years. I figure it is a pretty safe investment, as I don't think Disney is going anywhere.

I purchased a few shares back of Disney in those early internet trading days. I remember I purchased it for $26...then sold it years later for $29 or so, it was going nowhere. Noticed it is currently $66 share. I didn't have that much so I wouldn't have made too much if I had saved it.

My best stock purchase of all time was Apple for $25/share back in 2000? Split once since then...went up to $700/share but now is around $430 or so. THAT was a good purchase.

Owning Disney stock means seeing a 50 minute wait for Peter Pan (Peter Pan!), walking by, shaking your head, and being thankful you have stock in the company.

I have been known to start humming the theme from "It's A Small World" when my dividend check comes.::yes::

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

We own one share, so when our dividend check comes it's usually around 18 cents LOL. But still, 18 cents that we spend back in the company!!:lmao::lmao:

I've owned Disney stock for about 25 years and still buy it monthly. I also owned Pixar stock which then rolled into Disney stock. So bummed I never held the Pixar in certificate form as I'd love to have one of those.

I used to own stock like that. The postage cost more than the dividend check. Have you considered reinvesting the dividends?

Yes, we have it too. Had it for years and it is worth much more now then when we bought it. Also, am saving it to give to my kids. :goodvibes

I have thoughts about moving my kids' savings acct monies to Disney stock but don't even know where to start. Online trading place like fidelity? Minimum purchase?
