Do you need magic bands while doing Pirate League -- or can someone use them?

DH and DD are doing Pirate League one morning. I thought my dad and I would use the time to ride some rides they won't ride (Space Mountain, 7DMT). I was thinking if they don't need their magic bands with them while doing it (or if they only need them to check in) that we could take them and ride twice.

Anyone know if they will need to keep them with them during Pirate League?

Do you have Memory Maker? If so, your DH will need either the card or his MB to get the photos scanned at the end of their pirate makeover.
