"Do You Mind?" - Disney Adventures with Teens August Trip Report

BREAKING NEWS!!

La Nouba tickets came in the mail today! It all feels so real now! They are not so much tickets, rather credit cards. I haven't decided if that will make them more difficult or easier to keep up with. Hmm

8th row! Yippee!!

Well, I know you well enough to know that you have a file folder to hold all kinds of stuff for our trip. I'm sure it's entitled DisneyWorld Trip.::yes::

My recommendation would be to paste an envelop to the inside making a pocket to hold the La Nouba tickets.:thumbsup2

Yes, I remember the moving sidewalk. I don't remember seeing it the last time I went to SM. But who knows:confused3 it could be there. Remember, my brain is really, really full of stuff.

Well I think that I am the only Diser that was under-whelmed by these. After reading all the reports about them, I made sure that I had one during my Oct 06 trip and my response was: Gee, this is good soft serve ice cream but nothing great. Of course this is a personal opinion. On the positive side, I also tried the school bread in Norway on the same trip and became addicted. :thumbsup2
We'll try it out for you. I think I'm more interested in the floats though. More juice. After that, we may join you in the category of being underwhelmed. We'll let you know.

You are right. I have a folder already. I also have corresponding folders on my computer for electronic files and worksheets. I also have the makings of a binder, which will have pockets, page protector sleeves, etc. I can put the tix in there later. Katie is going to help me make the binder.

You left yourself wide open there, but I'm not going to say it....:rotfl2:

I agree with you. If I try to start scheduling and meeting DISers, we may not have time to enjoy the things we have planned. Random meetings even might slow us down, and we all know I have things that need to get done!! :) I wouldn't want to be rude to someone and say "I'm really sorry to interrupt, but I must get back to my FASTPASS." :rotfl: I also think my family will appreciate not being sidetracked by meeting people we don't really know. Now, would it stop me from wearing my fave sweater? I'm not sure I'd go that far. Maybe I would just pretend not to know the connection if I were asked while wearing my sweater.

Wow, I'm behind here! Just wanted to say, the point that said sweater also packs really huge was another factor in leaving it home, lol.

What is a Dole Whip? It sounds like a virgin pina colada to me. I hope it is. I'll have two, thank you.

I will try to find a description and a picture for you. Everyone on the DIS RAVES about these. I believe it's dole ice cream with pineapple juice. I think you can get it at Aloha Isle in Adventureland (?) and maybe somewhere in Tomorrowland too. I will find out.

There I go quoting myself. How bizarre.

I promised to find you a pic of a dole whip. Here is a link to a great picture of a dole whip and a dole whip float.

I am hesitant to post the photo without giving photo credits. Not sure how it works on this forum. :confused3 And I sure don't want to offend anyone.

Well, thanks to you and Alabama girl who posted said photos. :)

I think I'm going to have the float since we will be there in August and I'll probably be thirsty most of the time.:cool2:

Got your pm, and read about half of your thread. I would love to share my the experience my DD16 had. My DH and I run 2 companies, it's late and he's making me go home :rotfl: Once home, my internet time is nil! Too much laundry to do! I look forward to your PTR's and sharing our recent trip.

Not a problem. On the bottom right corner of each person's post, there are two buttons. One says "Quote". If you click that, it will open a reply window and will have the person's message already in there with some code around it. You can edit what's in the middle, if, for example, you only want to respond to one thing in the post and you don't want to take up space by re-posting the whole person's post.

The next button to the right is smaller, looks like it has a little letter on it and great big quote signs like this ". Well, sorta. If you want to quote several people's posts, or several different posts in a single reply post, you can click this button on the bottom of each post and then hit the "reply" button on the bottom left side of the whole page. When you do that, again it opens a reply window with all the various quotes all set up inside code. You just click in between the quotes and type away.

Ok this is me trying it out. Did it work?

It didn't put the yellow box around it???

Now what do I do? I will have to get DH to help. He is the computer geek in the family.

We haven't been writing much here this week. Sure can tell it's "busy season."

Anyway just wanted to add a bit about Fantasmic.

When I went with your sister's family in December a few years ago, (Mickey's Magical Christmas Party) we went early, as advised. We got front row, center seats. It was a long wait, but Wes went back out and got some food for us. (Sweet, kind, Son-in-Law)

But as the time went on, we nearly froze, so SKS-in-law went back out and got us all some hot chocolate. That kept us warm throughout the "attraction."

I've been reading the UG and am picking up on the Disney Language. Can't you tell?

I will be posting replies and updates late this evening or tomorrow. I am working on the itinerary.

Ok, so here is the long-awaited itinerary. I think I have matched it to all the crowd calendars, but I will be going back and checking, double-checking, and re-checking a few times before we leave.

Before I post, a few words about the itinerary. I used to be a HUGE planner. I plotted and planned out every detail of every event, party, vacation, gathering, etc. Well, after a few years of this, I realized that I became very stressed out :scared1: when things that I had planned did not go my way, whether caused by things outside of my control, or by decisions made by others in my group.

So now, I try to plan things out the best I can. For this trip I will try to keep it a very "rough" schedule. And going into this, I have acknowledged to myself and my family that I commit NOT to get upset if anything in the plans changes.

This is why you will see that there is not much detail in our itinerary. I haven't even penciled in any pool time, rope drops, shopping time, etc. I am just hoping that we will keep our NTBM list handy, and check items off as we go. That's the plan anyway...

So off we go!

OK, get out the acronym list. I'm impressed with the itinerary. I may respond to it at a later date. As for the Brown Derby food pictures......Oh, yeah! THAT'S what I'm talkin' about!!!!!

Wow, I'm behind here! Just wanted to say, the point that said sweater also packs really huge was another factor in leaving it home, lol.
I can totally understand that. Must. minimize. packing. to. save. room. for. souvenirs. :rotfl:

I am anxious to hear about another 16 y.o. girl's impressions, likes, dislikes, etc. Hopefully it will help us plan our itinerary and adjust our NTBMs. Thanks for posting over here!

OK now I got it. Sorry for taking up room :confused3

Thanks for your help.
Looks like you did get it! No apologies needed. Now you can have fun going around quoting everyone!

Most definitely. :(

When I went with your sister's family in December a few years ago, (Mickey's Magical Christmas Party) we went early, as advised. We got front row, center seats. It was a long wait, but Wes went back out and got some food for us. (Sweet, kind, Son-in-Law)

Well, fortunately, we will have reserved seating with our Fantasmic package, so we won't have to get there 90 minutes early. How were those front-row seats? I understand that the reserved package seating is a little off to the side, but they say you can get an inside aisle seat and be in as good of shape as anyone else. Also, they say (as they always do about Disney) "there's not a bad seat in the house!"

I don't think we'll be worried about being cold. No hot chocolate for me, thank you.

I've been reading the UG and am picking up on the Disney Language. Can't you tell?
How are you liking the UG? It makes you quite tempted to "go Commando" as they say on these DIS boards, doesn't it? I am going to try my hardest to resist. (Speaking of going commando, the first few times I read that, I was wondering why these DIS people liked to go to the parks without their underwear on.:scratchin

I agree with this 100% August heat & Dole Whip float=:cloud9: ;)
We will be testing that out. I can imagine we might get our money's worth out of the park hoppers just heading to the MK for our daily Dole Whip float fixes. :lmao:

I have issued a dare to Katie and Caitlin to do each of these at least once on our WDW vacation.

22 Annoying Things to do in an Elevator
1 Crack open your briefcase or handbag, peer Inside and ask "Got enough air in there?"
2 Stand silent and motionless in the corner facing the wall without getting off.
3 When arriving at your floor, grunt and strain to yank the doors open, then act as if you're embarrassed when they open themselves.
4 Greet everyone with a warm handshake and ask him or her to call you Admiral.
5 Meow occasionally.
6 Stare at another passenger for a while. Then announce in horror: "You're one of THEM" - and back away slowly.
7 Say - 'DING' at each floor.
8 Say "I wonder what all these do?" And push all the red buttons.
9 Make explosion noises when anyone presses a button.
10 Stare, grinning at another passenger for a while, then announce: "I have new socks on."
11 When the elevator is silent, look around and ask: "Is that your beeper?"
12 Try to make personal calls on the emergency phone.
13 Draw a little square on the floor with chalk and announce to the other passengers: "This is my personal space."
14 When there's only one other person in the elevator, tap them on the shoulder, then pretend it wasn't you.
15 Push the buttons and pretend they give you a shock. Smile, and go back for more.
16 Ask if you can push the button for other people but push the wrong ones.
17 Hold the doors open and say you're waiting for your friend. After a while, let the doors close and say "Hi Greg, How's your day been?"
18 Drop a pen and wail until someone reaches to help pick it up, then scream: "That's mine!"
19 Bring a camera and take pictures of everyone in the elevator.
20 Pretend you're a flight attendant and review emergency procedures and exits with the passengers.
21 Swat at flies that don't exist,
22 Call a "Group hug" then enforce it.

She accepted the dare.

Fantasmic = didn't look like any bad seats in the arena as long as you aren't sitting behind a hulky man or a lady with a big hat/hairdo.
