"Do You Mind?" - Disney Adventures with Teens August Trip Report

I just called BC and requested a refurbished room. The CM was so nice. She put it down and said "we'll see ya when you get here! Have a Magical Day!"

I heard bits of "You've Got a Friend in Me" and "Just Around the Riverbend" while on hold. Makes me want to call back just so I can hear the Disney music to get me in the mood!

I am so excited!

I will respond to your posts later. We leave in 2 days!!!

Just checked airline luggage requirements. Looks like we can each check one bag free of charge. It is silent as to the second bag, if even allowed. A fee (but silent as to how much) for bags weighing over 50lbs.

I think we will be fine on our luggage.

We are adding a stop to our Friday road-trip. We'll stop in Little Rock for about an hour. More on that later.

6am if I can rally the troops. That probably means 7am.

I have personal training yesterday, today and tomorrow at 7am, so I have been getting up at 6am. It will be easy for me to rise early. Not sure about the rest of those people.

TGM just sent me an email (yes, he sent me a personalized email, because he loves me...and he has time for that) saying we need to start getting our bodies on Eastern time so we can get up in time to get to the parks early. Fat chance.

Yes, just 1 hour. That can be an eternity to teens and seniors. For my part, I will just treat it like Vegas. I don't sleep there. My mantra is "sleep? that's what airplanes are for!"

I don't know. Is he telepathic? Maybe like Santa Claus? All-seeing and all-knowing? I am gonna get coal in my stockings.

Yes, he's bossy. He must think I gave him some money or something to send me such reminders. I thought he knew we were traveling with teens. They sleep more than they are awake. I fully intend to leave them behind and catch up with them later in the day.

I have to report this.

Joann (my sister) called me today (or did I call her?). She said she's been reading my PTR and she is with me and will NOT stand for Mom sporting that oh-so-fashionable fanny pack she intends to wear.

So Mom's birthday is August 8th. The day we leave for Memphis. Joann has (thankfully) instructed Mom to find the coolest messenger bag or other carrying device. She is going to buy it for Mom's birthday gift.

Yippee!!!

Now we won't be embarrassed by mom's fanny(pack). And the pictures that last for eternity thereafter.

Can we get her to commit not to do the spontaneous dancing in World Showcase? Sister, can you give her a birthday gift to prevent THAT?

I already know. I will say "I don't know that woman." Then Chris and I will promptly announce that we're going to take a tour somewhere.

So, OK, I'm going to be a fashionable senior tourist. The bag is NOT like the pics Susan sent. It is Khaki outside and Black interior.... exactly what I "ordered."
And for spontaneous dancing........."it's my birthday and I'll dance if I want to! "
And did I tell you that I have 8 tee shirts (one for each day) that says "I'm with THEM!!!" and they have your pictures on them next to the word "them".

I had to laugh reading your comments about listening to Disney music while you were on hold. That is one of my favorite things about calling Disney -- listening to the music -- the other is when they tell me to have a magical day!

When Susan and I went shopping Monday, we picked us some South Beach Diet "trail mix" and I packed it in THE BOX. Can't forget our SBD on this trip. Gotta watch our figures...... 'cause NO ONE else is watching mine, for sure!

I'm a product of the Fifties and can't wait to get to PTC. My Jr. and Sr HS years were in the Fab Fifties and I have great memories of that decade.

Packing and moving is the worst! I just moved in May and it was a nightmare!!!

What grade level did you teach?

Well, I'm not looking forward to the moving experience, but I'll have some time before I face it because I haven't even put my house on the market yet. And Joann and her family have to sell their existing house and buy a new one in Austin before I can move my stuff into the condo.

I taught 3rd grade (self-contained) two years, 3rd. grade gifted one summer, 7-9 math for 1 semester, Homebound for 1 semester, 2nd grade (team teaching) for three years, remedial reading for six years, K-3 principal for four years, K-8 principal for fourteen years, K-5 principal for seven years, college education courses professor for three years. All of the above explains my silver hair!!!
